Humor as a Habit

It had never occurred to me that humor is a habit and needs to be used often and regularly to be a positive part of life. Thank you for an entertaining and useful tool that I could have used forty years ago.

We need to add more fun to our work and lives!

I think the name of the first chapter: “Combatting Chronic Seriousness” really set the stage for this romp of a nonfiction book. We are all suffering from chronic seriousness, and something needs to be done about it. When I started listening to the book, It brought to mind, when a woman at work couldn’t stand that I was laughing so much – I think she was just a stick in the mud… anyways, we take work too seriously, and if we don’t ease up, our stress destroys us.
Humor is just like any other thing you get better at, you practice it, and you’ll improve over time.

Growth mindset required!

The book has many exercises that you can do, to make many normal things more funny. Some if it revolves around tricking your social media newsfeeds to give you more funny stuff to see.
There are tons of suggestions, including the section where he suggests 101 things you can do to make work more fun.
the book is full of lots of great material that you can life, and alter for your specific needs.
He even suggests ways to make some personal, traumatic experiences lighter on you.
Lots of things to laugh at, and learn from - really great book!

I wanted to Like it...

There are a few tidbits that serve as a good reminder to enjoy the humor side of life and not take everything so seriously with work and other life scenarios. Some good tips on how to work on that humor muscle. Other than that, it was a bunch of filler stories that became annoying by Chapter 9. I don't think it was a wise use of my time to listen to this book. The value wasn't quite there.

I liked the concept

90% of the book is filler content. In other words it’s not of value. There is one chapter with a basic how to on the fundamentals of setting up an unfunny dad joke. Over all, wouldn’t recommend this book. Do a simple YouTube search on how to structure funny jokes.
