Publisher's summary

Can the Hunters and the Bringers ever get along? A hunter will protect the masses from a dark world of monsters, but who will be the bringer of light?

Monsters thrive in our world in the shadows of mortal eyes, living to feed. To keep them away from the knowledge of the world, two groups have been formed: the Hunters, who kill all monsters to save mankind, and the Bringers, who see monsters as living creatures and capture them for study. Val Hemmingway is the top-notch agent for the Hunters. Jeremey Darington is the cocky golden man of the Bringers.

With two clashing personalities and differentiating views, the two always end up in an argument. But when a new monster threat appears that can lure humans away without being seen, they must put everything aside and work together. Along the way, they discover secrets and embark on a personal journey that can flip the worlds of their organizations.

Adventures and amusing

Big fan of Mss. Straughan-Comnick's work and the voice actors did a great job of bringing this world to life. The attraction tension between the two main characters make for an amusing scenarios as they try to lead thier double life's. Very good world building, highly recommend a try, you'll get sucked in.

Great audio and ebook

I have both the ebook and the audio book. Loved them both. The book was very well written. When I was reading the book I could feel the characters in a way that helped enjoy my reading. And when I was listening to the book the characters came alive in a way that made the story seem more real.

A perfect combination: Monsters, Sass, and Banter

I love the concept of rival monster hunting groups! They work together, but often begrudgingly. When Val and Jeremy are forced to work together, banter ensues and the line between hate and admiration starts to blur.

The story is from Val's point of view and in first person. I love hearing Val's inner dialogue and her nerdy interests and sassy thoughts. Jeremy is perfectly annoying and irritating. At first I thought maybe Val was exaggerating. Nope. Jeremy is a piece of work, and it makes it enjoyable to loathe him.

The characters are all so well written and have distinct personalities. I look forward to learning more about all of them. The narators performed beautifully. They acted out the reactions and sounds and made it so much fun to listen to!

Overall, this is a great first book in the series and I can't wait to listen to the next one!

Amazing adventure story, characters & Voice actors

The Hunter and the Bringer is An Amazing adventure story with incredible characters and plot. As I listened, I visualized the adventure in my head. I could picture the interactions. I could smell the scents of the school and the Bar-B-Q. The writing of Morgan Straughan Comnick is masterful. Major book publishers should be banging on her door and throwing money at her for this series and to contract her for all future writing.

The voices of Lexi Evans and Logan Anare are phenomenal as these characters. I will always hear their voices with these characters. Logan knows how to play the conceded and arrogant Jeremey Darington perfectly. Lexi is the kick butt and amazing Val Hemmingway in every way. I love their interaction and how they play off of each other. Their acting is top notch. If I needed voice actors for anything, these two would be at the top of the list.

I went from not knowing much about The Hunter and the Bringer to become an instant fanboy. I was upset with the story ended. I wanted more. I am dying to know what happens to Val and Jeremy as they take on the big bad. It was close to my disappoint when Empire Strikes Back ended in the theaters in 1980, which was a traumatic thing for my young self.  The experience of listening to this audio book was a complete delight.

Sorry Logan, but I am completely Team Val.

I cannot wait to read or even better listen to the next one, Monsters and Mortals.

Anime For Your Imagination

Move over Jim Butcher, Morgan Straughan Comnick is coming for you! I really enjoy urban fantasy and The Hunter And The Bringer does NOT disappoint. From the very start, I was immediately drawn into the story of Val and Jeremy, members of two separate branches of monster hunters who must work together (very reluctantly as Jeremy proves himself to continue to be an annoying thorn in Val's side) to protect the world from a new breed of monster. Above the very compelling and well-written and performed story, the character development is where this story shines the most. You immediately feel a connection with every character you meet, especially Val with her quirks and interests that we nerds can all relate to. The performances of Lexi Evans, and Logan Anare made me vividly picture the story to the point where it felt as though I was literally watching an anime unfold before my eyes. The writing is superb, the performance is top-notch. I expect we will be seeing great things from this team in the future.

Why Did I Wait So Long?

At the gentle insistence of the author, and I did get a copy via the successful Kickstarter campaign, I finally listened to this audiobook.

Now, as an author myself, I have settled into a routine where I need to work in almost total silence. Well, I may have to amend that after listening to The Hunter and the Bringer.

This is a splendid story that follows two unlikely allies in the secret defense of humanity. She thinks he's a vapid jerk...and he KNOWS he's as wonderful as he is handsome, which is quite a lot.

The Love/Hate relationship is skillfully fleshed out here without removing the looming menace. Lexi and Logan, were they less skilled voice actors, could easily make us dislike their characters. But Logan gives his charges plenty of gravitas, even in the moments when he's trying to put the moves on his prey. Meanwhile, I found myself laughing out loud at the variety of insulting names Morgan came up with, and delighted in Lexi's smooth-as-silk delivery.

While this may come off to some as a warm-up for the action to come, both in combat and in love, it's a terrific and engaging character study that provides enough meat to be satisfying but leaves me wanting more from Morgan, Lexi, and Logan, to say nothing of this amazing world of intrigue and danger.

And now, I need to hear more audios while I write. They've got a lot to live up to, when compared to this.

The Hunter and the Bringer is an enjoyable story that leaves one smiling, laughing out loud at times, and craving a sequel. Highly recommended!

Modern Fantasy

I loved this audiobook. The authors’ imagination and description of characters and scenarios made it seem like you were in the book. The voice actors were incredible and did an amazing job giving each character their own voice and personality. Highly recommend this book!

A Quick and Witty Thrillride

The Hunter and the Bringer is a fun and fast-paced urban fantasy for lovers of the genre who crave all the juiciest bits; monster hunting, nightclub espionage, and plenty of romantic tension. There was such a great amount of fantasy creature representation in this story that I found particularly engaging, alongside the equally fun fandom references. Val is just like us. While the novel excels in the realm of action, where I found myself most entertained was Val's sharp internal voice and watching the relationship grow between her and Jeremey, which is a fraught, yet compelling one, to say the least. This duo is made even more enjoyable by the stellar performances by Ms. Evans and Mr. Anare. Can't wait for the next one!
