Publisher's summary

For two FBI agents with a past, love becomes a matter of life and death in the new Hidden Sins novel from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katee Robert.

Maggie Gaines used to be an FBI agent - top of her class and one of the bright, up-and-coming stars - until she spectacularly fell apart during her first high-profile case. That was eight years ago. Now she's a ranger at Glacier National Park, and she's found some measure of peace. But when the body of a murdered woman is discovered, she must finally put the past behind her and work with the one man she thought she'd never see again.

For months, Vic Sutherland has been hunting a killer who's been targeting unsuspecting hikers in national parks - and now the predator has come to Glacier. Vic knows the case will bring him face-to-face with his former partner, yet nothing can prepare him for seeing Maggie again after all these years, or for the memories of passion it stirs in both of them.

As the investigation brings them closer together - and closer to the killer - Maggie and Vic fear they have only each other to trust. But even that might not be enough to make it out of Glacier alive.

Couldn’t get into it

This one didn’t interest me as much as the first one. I couldn’t get into the whole kids in the forest thing. Didn’t keep me on my toes.

Not a sequal

I read this thinking it was going to follow up The Devil’s Daughter. It doesn’t. It is a good story but shouldn’t be titled as a sequel to it.

Sweet romantic suspense mystery

This serial murder case is set in Glacier National Park in northern Montana. The protagonists are Maggie, an ex-FBI agent and current park ranger, and Vic, an FBI agent who was Maggie's boss when she worked there. Although the case is about 7 murders committed in national parks, the murder case seems less important in the novel to the growing romantic relationship between Maggie and Vic. There is only one sex scene and it is rather tame. Narrator Carly Robins is excessively exuberant to the point it detracts from the story.

FBI And Forest Service Chase Serial Killer

Maggie Gaines works at Glacier National Park and loves her job except for the public. She’s a former FBI profiler who burned out on her first case. Now her former partner shows up to investigate a body found strung up and field dressed. Will this case bring them closer or tear her apart? Great author. Recommend.

Mediocre

Could have been lots better....droned on at the end and I just wanted the book to be over. Only redeeming qualities were the continued story from book one of the main characters. If you're looking to finish this series be prepared to be bored. Will check out the outcome of the next installment and see if it's any better.

Oh vey… the narrator!

Story was good, not great. Lost interest in the “kids” and kept forgetting names and relationships. If I had read it (rather than listen to it) I would have given it a higher rating. But - the narrator. Bad on so many levels. Normal speaking voice is grating, very unappealing, and too young. Male voices were substandard. Then, when attempting emotion, I felt like my ears were going to bleed from the harshness. Detracted so much from the story. I only felt relief when I was done.

5 I’ll Never Go Hiking Again Stars!!!

Holy Wowza!!!! I’ve read a lot of romantic suspense books in my time and like to think I can have an inkling of “who did it” before getting to the end of the book. Yeah, not so much this time. I literally sat there slack jawed when the unsub was revealed. I NEVER saw this coming EVER!!!

Ms. Robert has written a book that is gripping in it’s terror of what’s happening in Glacier National Park. The character development and scene setting down to the hour of each day is stellar and so detailed that I felt like I was in the BAU for the FBI. Vic and Maggie used to be partners until Maggie, fresh out of the Academy and moved west to be a Park Ranger.

There’s a natural draw between Maggie and Vic and what we find out is there was this same pull when they were partners. But things were different back then and with the passage of time, these same roadblocks are no longer in the way. But that’s not the focus of this book. This book is about finding who is committing some very gruesome murders in a beautiful national park. And oh my goodness, the details we get about each murder is almost bone chilling. Hence the reason I never the murderer coming!!

I can’t give too much more because that would result in giving something away and that would ruin the experience of listening to this book for you. And while we’re talking about listening, the narrator for this book, Carly Robbins is phenomenal with this book. Her ability to convey the feelings of each character drew me right into the book and I was captivated from beginning to end!

TERRIBLE NARRATOR

I was really looking forward to listening to this book, however, the narrator was too distracting. She sounded like a high school cheerleader!! I had to get a refund.....listening to the narrator was like listening to nails scratching a chalk board!! Before you purchase, be sure to listen to the sample, something I didn't do but will do in the future!
