About this listen

Once again Dorothea Benton Frank takes us deep into the heart of her magical South Carolina Lowcountry on a tumultuous journey filled with longings, disappointments, and, finally, a road toward happiness that is hard earned. There we meet three generations of women buried in secrets. The determined matriarch, Maisie Pringle, at 80, is a force to be reckoned with because she will have the final word on everything, especially when she's dead wrong. Her daughter, Liz, is caught up in the classic maelstrom of being middle-aged and in an emotionally demanding career that will eventually open all their eyes to a terrible truth. And Liz's beautiful 20-something daughter, Ashley, whose dreamy ambitions of her unlikely future keeps them all at odds.

The Lowcountry has endured its share of war and bloodshed like the rest of the South, but this storm season we watch Maisie, Liz, and, Ashley deal with challenges that demand they face the truth about themselves. After a terrible confrontation they are forced to rise to forgiveness, but can they establish a new order for the future of them all? This is the often hilarious, sometimes sobering, but always entertaining story of how these unforgettable women became The Hurricane Sisters.

Not so interesting. Predictable .

Nice job narrating. Story a traditional "happily ever after". Story not of much interest.

Job Well Done Robin can not wait to hear the next

Love the way Robin Miles resents the charters she brings them to life. Miles does such a good job and I truly love listening to her.

Fabulous, fun!

This was an enjoyable read! It covered a serious topic with grace and some humor. The characters were almost larger than life but their hearts were sure! Miss Frank did it again.

Great message

I really love the rich characters . How each character is developed throughout the book. I can see myself and my girlfriends in some of these strong women.

Not even close to her other novels!

She read it beautifully!

Could you see The Hurricane Sisters being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No!

Enjoyable!

Typical DBF but I enjoy her writing style and her story lines. Robin Miles is not my favorite narrator but she is tolerable.

Predictable

Dorothea Benton Frank is one of my favorite authors....I will buy anything that she writes knowing that it I will thoroughly enjoy it.. That being said, I would've been better off reading this book. The narrator was so over the top in her depiction of southern accents (and I live in the south), that at times I flirted with the idea of returning my Audible copy and buying the hard copy.
The story was predictable, but it wasn't "a who done it" so it really doesn't matter. Ms. Frank writes about real people with real problems, and, as in life the outcome of many situations is "predictable".

Skip this one and buy the printed version.

excellent as always!

Ms. Frank always weaves a colorful tale, but unlike some other writers that are considered her contemporaries, the story always involves a current issue of importance. This was a great book, funny, poiniant and throughly entertaining!
