About this listen

The Inner Circle: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

There are stories no one knows. Hidden stories. I love those stories. And since I work in the National Archives, I find those stories for a living.

Beecher White, a young archivist, spends his days working with the most important documents of the US government. He has always been the keeper of other people's stories, never a part of the story himself....

Until now.

When Clementine Kaye, Beecher's first childhood crush, shows up at the National Archives asking for his help tracking down her long-lost father, Beecher tries to impress her by showing her the secret vault where the President of the United States privately reviews classified documents. After they accidentally happen upon a priceless artifact - a 200-year-old dictionary that once belonged to George Washington, hidden underneath a desk chair, Beecher and Clementine find themselves suddenly entangled in a web of deception, conspiracy, and murder.

Soon a man is dead, and Beecher is on the run as he races to learn the truth behind this mysterious national treasure. His search will lead him to discover a coded and ingenious puzzle that conceals a disturbing secret from the founding of our nation. It is a secret, Beecher soon discovers, that some believe is worth killing for.

Gripping, fast-paced, and filled with the fascinating historical detail for which he is famous, The Inner Circle is a thrilling novel that showcases a brilliant author writing at the height of his craft.

One of my favorite authors. Story was good. Narrator was very good. HOWEVER, the sound effects were so distracting. Low bass sounds that would give you a headache. Other sounds that make you check your air conditioner to see if fan motor is going bad or see if the phone is ringing.
I have listened to over 400 books, this is the worst presentation, Had trouble listening to the end.

Background sound effects very distracting

Scott Brick is fantastic as always. Couldn’t stand all of the melodramatic music in the background

Performance

The story was good but there was places that dragged! Wish there were a few more answers at the end to tie things up.

Story had highs and lows.

The story pulls you in from the beginning and doesn't let you go until the end. The use of historical facts and places adds to the whole experience.

Overall a very interesting story with some good twists and unexpected turns. The one thing that was annoying was the music in the background. I kept wishing there was a way to turn it off! I will listen to samples of future books from this author and likely pass if it has the music...

Good listen but the music...

The background noise was so distracting. Once when I was driving I thought people were honking at me. I just hated the background music. I didn't buy a music CD I purchased a book. It was so distracting and made it very difficult to concentrate on the story. I finally gave up. Couldn't finish the book.

What's with all the background noise

I found the plot to be convoluted and tedious to listen to. The background ambience was distracting and annoying. Never was able to completely get into the storyline.

Brad Meltzer has done it again. This book kept me intrested and hooked until the very last minute. Now I am starting on the 2nd book in this series. I love a great story teller and Brad is one of the best.

5 Golden Stars

The story line was very good but the music was horribly distracting. I thought I would get used to it but it never stopped annoying me. I will never listen to another audio with a music background again

Music distracts book that has music background again

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

The background music is a complete distraction and detracts from the audiobook. The story itself is decent and Scott Brick is always great, but his performance is impeded by the unnecessary and poorly executed background music.

Get rid of the music!
