About this listen

The classic best seller by Benjamin Graham, perhaps the greatest investment advisor of the 20th century, The Intelligent Investor has taught and inspired hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. Since its original publication in 1949, Benjamin Graham's book has remained the most respected guide to investing, due to his timeless philosophy of "value investing", which helps protect investors against areas of (possible) substantial error and teaches them to develop long-term strategies which they will be comfortable with down the road.

Among this audiobook's special features are the use of numerous comparisons of pairs of common stocks to bring out their elements of strength and weakness and the construction of investment portfolios designed to meet specific requirements of quality and price attractiveness.

An OK book, but didn't really learn anything

Would you try another book from Benjamin Graham and/or Bill McGowan?

A very basic, but informative book for the new investor. Very dry, but does go over all the key concepts and terms that investors should know.

If you’ve listened to books by Benjamin Graham before, how does this one compare?

n/a

Did The Intelligent Investor inspire you to do anything?

No

Any additional comments?

Very basic. A dry beginners book at best, but informative.

What did you like best about The Intelligent Investor? What did you like least?

The concepts were widely applicable.

The examples are out of date. Take some time to think of the concepts behind the examples.

Very useful in understanding the basics of investing. Saves you from dangers of trying to do it on your own without professional help.

A lot of information, very valuable

Any additional comments?

I enjoy listening to old school investing strategies (that are still valid of course) and enjoyed the quickness of the book. Many investor books get dry but this one kept up the pace.

The Thumbnail sketch of the book...

They're not kidding when they call this the "abridged version of The Intelligent Investor! How do you take a 700 page book and boil it down to under 3 hours and maintain much of the content? This is good if you want the general idea of what Graham is talking about, but if you're looking for nuts and bolts... I'd look elsewhere.
