Publisher's summary

Will there ever be another investing book quite like this? It's unlikely.

University of Berkshire Hathaway is a remarkable retelling of the lessons, wisdom, and investment strategies handed down personally from Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger to shareholders during 30 years of their closed-door annual meetings.

From this front row seat, you'll see one of the greatest wealth-building records in history unfold, year by year.

If you're looking for dusty old investment theory, there are hundreds of other books waiting to cure you of insomnia. However, if you're looking for an investing book that's as personal as it is revelatory, look no further.

Packed with Buffett and Munger's timeless, generous, and often hilarious wisdom, University of Berkshire Hathaway will keep serious investors listening late into the night:

  • Get unique insight into the thinking, strategies, and decisions- both good and bad - that made Buffett and Munger two of the world's greatest investors.
  • Understand the critical reasoning that leads Buffett and Munger to purchase a particular company, including their methods for assigning value.
  • Learn the central tenets of Buffett's value-investing philosophy "straight from the horse's mouth."
  • Enjoy Munger's biting wit as he goes after any topic that offends him.
  • Discover Buffett's distaste for "commonly accepted strategies" like modern portfolio theory.
  • See why these annual meetings are often called "an MBA in a weekend."

The best book on the dynamic duo's words.

Although repeatative at times, but still the most comprehensive account of Buffet & Munger's words of advice out there. Needless to get a whole lot of books on this same subject, just this one is enough.

Strangely emailing entertaining.

This book is unique. It is notes from the annual shareholder meeting, so it takes a strange rhythm. The same jokes are repeated frequently, but in a way that I find charming.

Envy is the lamest of the 7 Deadly Sins. At least with gluttony you're having fun some of the time.

Follow in the footsteps of a giant

The matter of fact manner in telling of Buffets successes and failures makes this seem as told by the man himself. It paints a clear picture of the mindset and actions of this master of capital allocation bar none. His failures laid bare solidfy the notion of an honest telling of the real story warts and all. The ideas are worthy of a multi-year degree at a top notch financial institution with a focus on ethical results. I will be listening multiple times.

Micro Business Lessons From Berkshire Hathaway

University of Berkshire Hathaway is an entire series of micro lessons on investing, business strategies, timeless wisdom and historical perspectives on one of American’s most successful Fortune 500 businesses all inside of one book. These lessons are courtesy of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger’s presentation at each of their annual investor days in Omaha, Nebraska. Pecaut does an excellent job of summarizing these meetings, gleaning insights into the business as it grew through bear and bull markets - while giving the reader numerous nuggets of timeless sage advice from Buffett and Munger. What I liked most about this book is it focused more on the Berkshire Hathaway business through the years and less on the life of Buffett and Munger of which there are numerous biographies to choose from on them.

A bit too much repetition, but well worth your while. Would listen again, plan to.

Good listen

The annual value of BH down to the cent is a touch superfluous. Otherwise an educational work entertaining as well.

Berkshire Hathaway wiki

This book is like listening to someone reading an annual summary from Berkshire Hathaway’s wiki. Occasional anecdotes from Buffett and Munger added. If you’re a fan of Warren Buffett and his wisdom then this book is a good listen, but then again you probably already know all the book has to say.
