Publisher's summary

All it took was one frat party for me to notice her. Blair Jensen. Gorgeous nerd with a sharp tongue and give-no-shits attitude. The moment she sneered jock at me, I was captivated.

Then she poured a beer over my head and walked away like I was nothing. Nobody turned down Cage Wilder, nobody, and I knew then that I had to have her, no matter the consequences.

She bruised my ego and embarrassed me in front of my football buddies, turning me into the laughing stock of the team, so I made a bet with them. They claimed there wasn’t any way I could melt the heart of Blair the Ice Queen; after all, she had shown her disgust for me.

Shutting off my feelings after we spend many late nights studying together isn’t easy, and it doesn’t take long for me to discover there is so much more to Blair than what everyone sees.

Sweet, funny as hell, and a believer in happily-ever-afters. I start to fall for her, but she has secrets too, things she’s hiding, a past that haunts her, and I find I want to save her, help her.

She sees me for more than a football god, and she doesn’t take any of my shit. Suddenly, I realize there is so much more to life than living someone else’s dream. The bet I made still hovers over my head though, and I know that if I want more with her, an actual chance, I’ll have to tell her the truth … before someone else does. Question is, will she still want me when she finds out what I’ve done?

Loved it!! 😍

Great plot/storyline. Liked the fact that the heroine didn't become self-righteous afterwards, she still appeared humbled. Loved the enemies to lovers that wasn't too harsh. Loved the HEA. The writing was great on the last couple of stories, however, Teddy Hamilton's performance was fabulous, & made it worth it! Ava's performance was also good. And the spice...👌🏾.

Really enjoyed this

I really like how this story played out. The relationship between the MCs didn't feel forced, and the ending was easy-going. The voice acting was very good, but that is expected from these two narrators.

The series is so good.

I listened to all the audiobooks of this series and was so impressed. The voices and the storytelling in each book was each in their own way wonderfully written and voiced.

The jock and the nerd

Cage and Blair

— enemies to lovers
— football romance
— jock/nerd (athlete/tutor)
— reformed playboy
— jealous/possessive

🎧 Teddy Hamilton and Ava Lucas perform another great narration

Blair and Cage meet at a frat party. Blair is a shy, introverted bookworm and isn’t in her element at the party. Cage is a football star and a playboy. When he approaches Blair at the party, she judges him quite a bit based on her upbringing and how men like him treated her mom.

Blair is defensive and dumps a drink on Cage, embarrassing him in front of everyone at the party. Cage decides he is going to get revenge on Blair for causing all of the mocking from his friends.

A few weeks later, Cage’s coach tells him he needs to improve his grades to keep playing football. The coach sets him up with a tutor. Both are surprised and unhappy when Cage shows up for his tutoring session and Blair is the tutor.

After his friends continue to make more comments about the “ice queen” being the one girl Cage can’t get, he makes a bet with his friends that he can get Blair to fall for him.

Soon he realizes there is more to Blair, and he has to work to show her that he isn’t the jerk jock she thinks he is. I loved the banter and snark between Cage and Blair.

Both had to work to tear down their walls in order to pursue the relationship. Cage and Blair both had dysfunctional upbringings, and the pain and trauma from that led to a lot of their decisions.

I wasn’t a fan of the third act. A lot happened, and while most was resolved quickly, it didn’t always make sense. Some aspects were cleaned up a little too neatly.

Overall, I did enjoy the North Woods series. If books were to come out about Murphy, Evan, or Mia I would definitely check them out.

Great story

Blair reminds me of myself when, I met my true love. From beginning to end our love story played just lie het’s & Cage’s.

Loved it!

The overall story was really good, I love a good university sports jock falls for the nerd story. I also love that he fell for her so quickly. It took a minute for this book to get spicy, but it didn’t take away from the story or make me lose interest, so I wouldn’t necessarily classify it as a slow burner. As with slow burners I’m like chop chop get with the program, but with this story I was content listening. And the spice was decent. My only complaint is the whole bet thing, it ended up not being the whole climax you think it’s going to be. Blair accepts his apology just after finding out about the bet and hearing a brief explanation, her turning point was his dad’s decisions. I found it ironic that she trusted Cage enough to believe him about the bet, but not enough to try long distance. But I guess she was just protecting herself, and it didn’t really matter in the end anyway because they got the HEA~ The narration was good Teddy Hamilton is always solid. This is my first time listening to Ava Lucas, she’s good, her male voice isn’t the sexiest, but not bad. Overall, I recommend the listen~
