From the irreverent star of Fox News’s Red Eye and The Five, hilarious observations on the manufactured outrage of an oversensitive, wussified culture.
Greg Gutfeld hates artificial tolerance. At the root of every single major political conflict is the annoying coddling Americans must endure of these harebrained liberal hypocrisies. In fact, most of the time liberals use the mantle of tolerance as a guise for their pathetic intolerance. And what we really need is smart intolerance, or as Gutfeld reminds us, what we used to call common sense.
The Joy of Hate tackles this conundrum head on- - replacing the idiocy of open-mindness with a shrewd judgmentalism that rejects stupid ideas, notions, and people. With countless examples grabbed from the headlines, Gutfeld provides readers with the enormous tally of what pisses us all off. For example:
- The double standard: You can make fun of Christians, but God forbid Muslims. It's okay to call a woman any name imaginable, as long as she's a Republican. And no problem if you're a bigot, as long as you're politically correct about it.
- The demonizing of the Tea Party and romanticizing of the Occupy Wall Streeters.
- The media who are always offended (see MSNBC lineup)
- How critics of Obamacare or illegal immigration are somehow immediately labeled racists.
- The endless debate over the Ground Zero Mosque (which Gutfeld planned to open a Muslim gay bar next to).
- As well as pretentious music criticism, slow-moving ceiling fans, and snotty restaurant hostesses.
Funny and sarcastic to the point of being mean (but in a nice way), The Joy of Hate points out the true jerks in this society and tells them all off.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
He had a few good arguments. It wasn't phenomenal. My main complaint with it is there was a ton of swearing. I think a few well chosen four letter words can really drive your point home but the amount of swearing was totally unnecessary and just seemed really unprofessional. It made me feel like it was written by a high school student. It was okay

Would you listen to The Joy of Hate again? Why?
No. Once is enough. What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
For the most part, Greg is correct in his assessment of the current state of the American media. This is an important issue, but one can appreciate that Greg has keeps his sense of humor throughout. What aspect of Steve Kramer’s performance would you have changed?
I thought he did well. However, when an aurthor writes with this much sarcasm, emotion and energy, the audio book would be better served if read by the aurthor. What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?
That Greg was slandered on Twitter.Fun listen

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No. Unless you are a liberal hater who likes to hear the same points and arguments over and over again, there is no reason to listen to this book. I was looking for new information, new analysis, and new insight and got none of this. It was simply rehashing all the old information you've heard. What could Greg Gutfeld have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Greg should have developed new insight and not just retold old stories. The "why" behind liberal behavioral patterns is desperately missing from this book. What aspect of Steve Kramer’s performance would you have changed?
Steve wasn't snappy or sarcastic enough as Greg is/would have been. Greg should have narrated this.If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Absolutely not.Any additional comments?
I developed more of my own insight listening to this than the book provided. I think I could write a 1,500 word blog post about these same issues and provide you with more insight than the entirety of this book.Obvious in every way
