About this listen

On a cold February morning in 1967, Sheriff Coleman Grundy finds Betty Lou Mundy dead in her front yard and her husband on the porch with the gun that killed her. It looks like a classic case of revenge on a cheating wife.

Until the next murder. And the next. As Cole desperately searches for leads, he’s forced to come to grips with his own wife’s unsolved murder three years earlier, and in the process, he unearths long-buried secrets that change his life forever.

Intriguing Whodunnit

This is the third in Ken Oder's Whippoorwill Hollow series and as I had not read or listened to any of this author's work before I did wonder what it would be like. The story takes place in rural Virginia and is set in the mid-1960s. The story was one I didn't want to stop listening to once I had started it. I live in the UK in a rural area so have no way of knowing if the descriptions are accurate but for me, listening I felt myself transported to a very real place.

The characters are very well defined and have real depth to them which added to my enjoyment of this whodunit about a relatively quiet area where suddenly several deaths occur. I'm not going to give any spoilers as the story is far too good to ruin. But I do highly recommend this book.

The narration by Joe Geoffrey was very well done and really added to my enjoyment of this engrossing well-written whodunnit.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Death Delayed

When a woman is found murdered in her front yard and her husband commits suicide, it sets off a chain of events that actually started over thirty years ago. Two hit men, several cheating spouses, and a thirty year grudge kept me guessing until the end. Great story with lots of suspects. I was gifted this from the author.

Appearances can be deceiving.

I really enjoy mysteries when I get to the end without figuring out whodunit and why. The Judas Murders audible definitely fits that criteria. The story is written by Ken Oder and is done in a style in the way the events are presented that brings the old Dragnet episodes to my mind.

In an area that is usually relatively quiet there is suddenly a number of deaths. Until the murder of Betty Lou they had all seemed to be by natural causes, The investigation into Betty Lou's death brought up questions about the earlier deaths causing them to be investigated once more.

Joe Geoffrey's voice seemed to fit the Sheriff's character perfectly or at least what I imagined him to be like.

I received a free copy of this audible. I have voluntarily left this review which is my honest opinion of it.

Different

An interesting, if somewhat descriptive journey to decent. Good characters and an interesting narration. Good story to listen to with interesting and complex characters, that you definitely wouldn't want to know. A good mystery and the narrator was good . So if and when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy. “I received this audiobook for free and voluntarily review.

Book 3

I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.
This is the first book well only book in this series that I have read. That said maybe if I had read book 1 and 2 I would not have felt so lost. So many characters in current and past I was having a hard time keeping up. I also could not get a grasp of the main characters and therefor couldn't relate to them. Joe Geoffrey is the narrator for this audiobook and he does a good job. Again this is my opinion and you should give the book a try.
