About this listen

When a famous artist is kidnapped, the only one who can save him has a body no one can see, and a voice few can hear. Angel, spirit, or ghost - the Keeper doesn't know exactly what he is. But he knows he needs to protect Michael Delacroix, a famous artist who is kidnapped and locked in a windowless room deep beneath a Napa Valley vineyard.

Desperate to save the only person who knows he exists, the Keeper uses his abilities to convince two strong-willed women to search for Michael: a reporter who thinks her visions are signs from the Universe, and a nun who swears she hears the voice of God. Together they close in on the kidnapper - a psychotic killer who also hears a voice inside his head, pushing him toward murder. But once the Keeper learns the tragic reason he feels so connected to Michael, is it too late to save him?

Fantastic

I was blown away with the story and intensity of this novel. The concept was done very well and you felt for all the characters. I will definitely pick up more from this author. The narrator did a great job of bringing everything to life and portraying the emotions of all the characters. All in all a fantastic audio. I was given a free copy of this audio in return for an unbiased review.

Paranormal Thriller

I have to admit this is my 1st by author and totally enjoyed the book. Loved the characters of Michael Delacroix (painter), Hannah Klein (reporter), Sister Mary Elizabeth, angel/ghost and Michael’s keeper but not Donnie Harkrider, Cole (evil ghost) and Grant Thatcher. This is about Michael a famous painter who lead a hard life who fell in love with another art student Jolene and did a painting for her but she disappeared then he made changes to it and became famous then he is kidnapped, tortured due to hatred. The 2 gutsy women go in search of him with the help of the Keeper. You have to listen to find out what happens and who the ghosts were. I highly recommend if you enjoy a good paranormal thriller/suspense with twists. Cannot wait for The Night Janitor! I was given this free review copy audiobook (even had it in my wish list) at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU!

Excellent Supernatual Mystery

•audiobook•

Michael, whom the book is about, has a guardian of angel of sorts. Although we don’t learn until the end who he is and how he’s connected to his charge.
The storytelling is unique in how this ethereal being “pops inside heads” to tell the reader what each character is thinking or contemplating. It mostly works for this first person POV to become omnipresent but it also deterred from the story because we knew almost everything and everyone, including fears and motivations - or could guess it.

The Keeper is in a class of its own. I’ve not encountered another book quite like this.

The back story about how our villain became immersed in his madness was interesting, but it isn’t quite believable.

I liked how the first victim truly acted like a victim who slowly came to terms with a possibility of a rescue, but didn’t become heroic overnight. The secondary characters, overall, were written with care.

Michael, however, remained an enigma. I never really got to know nor care about him.

The climax seemed to drag longer than I wanted and we completely skipped over the rescue and any lingering questions or repercussions from actions.

B J Harrison made this non earthly being intriguing and captivating. I love several other narrators, but believe he was a solid choice to bring this book and its characters to life.

It’s nearly a 4 star, but not quite. But definitely out of reach for a lower 3 star rating.

Couldn’t Wait for a long drive, or rather listen..

The story was excellently narrated, That is 9/10’s of a story’s rating. A book can be fabulous but if it isn’t curated, then you are going to lose your audience. The content of the book was interesting, it didn’t lag on, or become redundant. I particularly liked this narrator as he added a bit extra to the story line. His expression and tones appeared well thought out and always timed perfectly.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Wow!!! Just, WOW!!!

This book absolutely blew my mind. The concept of "the keeper" and his relationship to the main character, Michael, was different and intense and special and surreal and mindblowing.

The book is told from the focal point of the keeper and what he sees and feels while he is trying to save Michael. Things got...intense.

This psychological thriller has the dubious distinction of portraying the ickiest bad guy that I've ever had the non-pleasure. He still makes me shudder.

This is a well-written story but I must give the narrator his due. Harrison was excellent. He took an incredibly good story and made it great. There were some seriously intense moments (quite a few, actually) and he portrayed them to perfection.

Great Twists

Lots of twists and turns in this thriller. I really enjoyed the narration as well. Many books have a short story with lots of filler material. This one keeps the pace from start to finish. Two thumbs up.

One of My Favorites

So there are plenty of wonderful things to say about this audiobook ranging from the unique character POV to the wonderfully suspenseful plot and the in-depth characters.

The Keeper’s role in life, as far as he can tell, is to watch over a young up and coming artist named Michael. The Keeper doesn’t know what he really is, but for his entire existence, he has made sure that Michael is safe. When Michael is suddenly kidnapped and taken hostage by a jealous artist, The Keeper embarks on a mission to influence people to come to Michael’s rescue. It’s this move that leads him to the truth of who he really is.

As I noted, I adored this audiobook. For some reason, the Keeper reminded me of Castiel from Supernatural and from there I was hooked. This book has all the wonderful things needed for a psychological thriller and even has an unlikely rescue duo of a Wiccan reporter and an elderly Nun.

This book will not disappoint.
