The Land of Stories about two siblings who fall into a fairy-tale world!

Alex and Conner Bailey's world is about to change, in this fast-paced adventure that uniquely combines our modern day world with the enchanting realm of classic fairy tales. The Land of Stories tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner. Through the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories, they leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic where they come face-to-face with fairy tale characters they grew up reading about.

But after a series of encounters with witches, wolves, goblins, and trolls alike, getting back home is going to be harder than they thought.

Critic reviews

"It's hard not to love a book dedicated to the Glee star's grandmother...Colfer gets off many good lines [and] the nifty ending ties the plot's multiple strands up while leaving room for further fairy tale adventures." (Publishers Weekly)

"In The Land of Stories, Colfer showcases his talent for crafting fancifully imaginative plots and multidimensional characters." (Los Angeles Times)

"It will hit big with its combination of earnestness and playful poise." (The New York Times Book Review)

Beautiful stories!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Land of Stories to be better than the print version?

Yes but only because Chris Colfer does an AMAZING job reading this story and really helps you get to know each individual character.

What other book might you compare The Land of Stories to and why?

He uses all the original fairy tale stories to bring his story together.

Which character – as performed by Chris Colfer – was your favorite?

I love Conner! His sarcasm and honesty make me laugh every chapter.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My daughter and I read this together. There were moments that she laughed so hard she started crying. We had to reply those moments a few times because we wanted to re-live them over and over.

Any additional comments?

We downloaded this audible version so that we had something to listen to on a 12 hour road trip we recently made. This book kept us so entertained that I could have driven another 12 hours with no problems. We ended up downloading the 2nd book for the ride home and it is just as amazing!

awesome!!

What did you love best about The Land of Stories?

That it's a fairytale and it revisits all those stories that we used to be told and believed in. And it really makes you think about the lessons they thought, it gives more meaning and background to simple stories.

What did you like best about this story?

Remembering my childhood memorys through the stories

What does Chris Colfer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He makes a voice for each of the characters, and being a children's book with fantasy characters it makes them easier to picture, and being the author just brings a little something more to the experience

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Almost, honestly there's so much happening in terms of action that you have to breath a little to keep going.

I LOVE IT. LISTENING TO THE 2ND ONE NOW can't wait

I loved it I am listening to the second one right now but the one thing about the second one is that in the beginning it says that alex is 13 which makes conner 13 and it says she is on a train. I am confuzzled...

The Land Of Stories

While fairly predictable, I very much enjoyed this story. And I always enjoy when the author reads their own story. Fun book!

I'm a big fan of fairy tales and this just left me enchanted. The story was written so beautifully. I love the fact they used the original fairy tales to build upon. It's an excellent read for children and adults alike.
