About this listen

Sir William Strongstaff is dead, and the defender of England and its kings is no longer there to battle the French. His chosen knight, Sir Michael of Weedon, is removed as the new king’s bodyguard, and he is sent to France, where the king’s uncles are trying to finish the job begun by King Henry V. From the outset, Sir Michael and his men are beset by treachery and intrigue. The line between ally and enemy appears to be almost invisible. When the Maid of Orleans becomes a threat, then Sir Michael and his men become the only hope for the English to hold on to what they have. The struggle is not only for England’s crown, but also the French one!

In an audiobook filled with historical characters like Jeanne d’Arc, the Duke of Bedford and Sir John Fastolf, Sir Michael grows into the knight who will fill the void left by Sir William Strongstaff whose shadow stretches from beyond the grave.

Strongstaff

Strongstaff's story is too good to be true. This is the person you want to be. Again, Griff is exhilarating with his story and Marston brings the character to life. This series grabbed me with Blood on the Crown and I could not stop. Of course, the hero has to die, but you see his influence on others in every story. You are a great man when you have the ability to humble royalty. A must listen or read.

Wonderful series.

When I started book 1 in this series I was somewhat disappointed. It wasn’t Bernard Cornwall. However after a time the story “got me” and here I am at the last of the series. The prelude to the incidents and some battle scenes are a bit redundant but I didn’t mind that at all. I enjoyed this series.

Sloppy Prologue

Lady Eleanor died years before her husband in the preceding book, not shortly after as stated in the prologue for this final book. Sloppy and disappointing.

How insulting! Walter and Lady Elanor resurrected.

Characters coming back from the dead! Did the author think we we too stupid to remember the previous book? As with other long-runnig series, sometimes the author goes too far.
