About this listen

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had run the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

At first glance it looks as if Rickman has been kidnapped, but Rapp knows certain things about his old friend that cause him to wonder if something more disturbing isn’t afoot. Irene Kennedy, the director of the CIA, has ordered Rapp to find Rickman at all costs. Rapp must navigate the ever-shifting landscape of Afghanistan as the Taliban, Iranians, Pakistanis and Russians all plot to claim their piece of the war torn state.

With Afghanistan crumbling around him, Rapp must be as ruthless as his enemies and as deceitful as people in his own government if he has any hopes of completing his mission.

Another great book, horrible narrator

This book did not disappoint. Another great Mitch Rapp book, but the narrator is horrible. Almost made me not listen

Abridged version

I fail to understand why you continuously put out abridged versions of great books like this. It leaves so many holes in the story that it is ridiculous. How hard can it be to record an unabridged version and release it ?

Love it, classic Mitch R. story

Keeps you engaged until the very end. Well read by the narrator. Highly recommended to start from the very first book in this series.

Great story, not great narrator

The story is amazing, as always with the Rapp series, but George Guidall did not do the narration as shown in the cover art, and the narrator is not very good.

I can't believe Mr Flynn wrote this-AWFUL!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Maybe a new to Mitch listner, then they can save the best for last.

Has The Last Man turned you off from other books in this genre?

Absolutely not.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Arman Schultz?

I usually like Arman Schultz but this time he was hard to understand. I'd give him another shot only because I know he can do better.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Last Man?

I can't say. I was so dissappointed I quit listening to it after about 2 hours.

Any additional comments?

Better luck next time.

Not one of his best books

This book in my opinion was not typical Vince Flynn. His books usually grab your interest within the first few pages, this book never got mine. I did not care for the narrator, the story or the characters.
I am a big fan of Vince Flynn and have enjoyed all of his books, and I have read all of them. This book was disappointing. I hope this is not a first read for folks, if it is they will most likely not read another book by Flynn, that will be there loss.
Do yourself a favor, do not judge the author by this offering.
