Pretty good with some flaws

This is a pretty good reading of the book that has been dramatized with several actors. At first, they aren't quite sure what accents they want to do: Swedish, German or Irish! Then it pretty much centers on a Dutch/Swedish accent for the rest of the book. The background music is muffled and could really use a cleaning up to make it more distinct. The actors that portray the leads do an excellent job though and make the entire store quite worthwhile. A good listen for Halloween.

A bit of fun

This was a fun listen, not real scary but enough to make the kids a little jumpy. Confused dramatisation regarding the accents but otherwise ok. If you need something to occupy kids on a car trip this is ok.

Great Family Fun

Everyone in our family enjoyed this production very much. It was a great listen while we were on a long car trip and kept the kids interested and entertained.

Love this rendition

I’ve been listening to this audio book ever since I was little. I see some bad reviews for it but in my opinion it’s perfect for children and super fun!

If it ain't broke -

Why this story needed to be "updated for todays audience" is beyond me. Washington Irving wrote a classic, and his words are sheer poetry. This version is poorly acted (since when is there an Irish accent in Sleepy Hollow- the story always refers to "Dutch settlers." Oh, there could have been an Irishman or two in Tarrytown in the late 1700's - but Mr. Irving does not mention any in his book). The narrator has not even a hint of forboding in her voice - she sounds as if she is reading a happy tale for tiny tots. Nothing scary about this program - except the title - at least that wasn't changed. Maybe it's just me, but this does not do justice to the original story. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

What were they thinking?

OK, I admit that I have always loved this story. For many years I would read the book (it is a short book) every Halloween season. Having grown up in the area of Sleepy Hollow, I really enjoyed how Washington Irving captures the feel of the place and its people...his words are magic. This version was a real disappointment! It totally dumbed down the language to the point where it is no more special than your average Saturday morning cartoon...ACK!
If you want a real Sleepy Hollow experience I recommend that you try a different version...for this program, (the creators of this should be spanked and put to bed with out dinner!) I was sooooo disappointed, and you will be too. Now I see that these folks have also done a version of A Christmas Carol?I am scared, very scared.
