Publisher's summary

When my teammates drag me to a club for my 21st birthday, the last thing on my mind is meeting a new guy. I’m not the kind of girl who gets wrapped up in a stranger on a sweaty dance floor.

Except, that’s exactly what happens.

Only, the guy isn’t a stranger.

He’s Jett Decker, the Olympic track star who has the entire campus buzzing with his transfer to our college. He may have given me his number, but I won’t use it. I refuse to be distracted by silly things like explosive chemistry. I’ve got my own Olympic dreams to chase.

Turns out, whatever ignited on that dance floor can’t be put out by swimming laps.

A sweet and steamy coming of age story............

The Line Below is a new adult romance novel, but it is even more a coming of age story for two college-age athletes. Shay is a star on her college swim team, and she catches the attention of a fellow athlete at her school, Jett. He has just transferred to Shay's school after winning a silver medal in track at the Olympics. They begin dating and quickly become very serious, a first for both of them. Although Shay is incredibly strong and talented, she is also still very naive and hesitant. Meeting Jett and having not only his understanding of her love of swimming but also his devotion and affection helps her grow in so many ways. The story has some steam, but it is at heart a very sweet and romantic story of a guy falling quickly but deeply in love with THE ONE. There is some drama with past lovers and family struggles, but the rocky moments smooth fairly quickly, and the book ended with both main characters at a really good place both in themselves and in their relationship. I have zero interest in sports of any kind, but I still really enjoyed the inside look at the camaraderie and competitiveness of the college swim and track teams, so do not let a lack of sports knowledge hold you back from listening to this fun story.

This is my first exposure to Stacey Glemboski as a narrator, and I hope that it won't be my last. She has a very pleasant, smooth delivery, and her performance is flawless. She is the perfect choice for Shay, but I actually found her portrayal of Jett equally credible.

Good story!

I am not athletic at all, and I have no interest in sports. Yet I've discovered that I enjoy reading sports romances. I become invested in rooting for these characters to win, and I marvel at all the training they do. This author is well-versed in how much effort and dedication it takes to be an elite athlete, as evidenced by her Pepper Jones series. I love that her heroines never lose their love of the sport, and that their love interests admire that about them. It's great that she shows that strength and competitiveness are attractive in a woman. Jett finds that sexy and exciting, and it leads to lots of sexy scenes between him and Shay. He also encourages her and is thrilled about her victories. They have a really great relationship right from the beginning, which was another positive about this story. Their problems arise from circumstances and from Shay's doubts. I liked that the interracial aspect was never a deterrent for them as a couple. Shay got upset about other things, which Jett never hesitated to clear up once she talked to him. He was always straightforward and honest, which I loved about him.

I liked that Shay had a lot going on in her life, and that her family relationships were an important part of who she was. Her relationship with her sister was especially meaningful and complex. I loved how they had each other's backs but still had deep-seated resentments, as siblings often do. I'm hoping that the author is writing Kick's story next, because I'm interested to read it. Also, it's hinted that it would be a rock star romance, which I'm very excited about.

I enjoyed listening to this story, and I look forward to more from this author.

The Line Below - Jett * Shay

I'm not normally into sports romances, but I really enjoyed this book.

I liked Jett a lot, he was protective, without being an overbearing alpha. Shay on the other hand either needed to grow a backbone or if she actually had one needed to stop letting everyone else speak for her. It absolutely drove me crazy that she let her sister talk her into doing whatever she wanted like Shay didn't have opinions and a mind of her own. And don't get me started on the sister. I was happy when Shay finally decided to figure her stuff out on her own instead of letting anyone else dictate her life for her.

Both Jett & Shay are on college sports teams. Jett runs track and has already medalled in the olympics, while Shay is a swimmer who didn't qualify at the olympic trials. They meet for the first time at Shay and her twins birthday party at a club. Jett dances with her, gives her his number, and disappears hoping she will call. They meet again a week later outside of a concert and the relationship takes off from there. Along the way they deal with Shay's ex friends with benefits, Jett's friend & sisters dislike of Shay being too much like his ex, Shay's insecurities about their relationship, etc.

Really enjoyed this one!

I have never read Ali Dean before but I had heard the narrator before and I really wanted to hear her again, she was so good. I very impressed with Ali Dean, she had a lot of heart and depth. Normally I am the kind that can shy away from novels that have something to do with sports, but this was wonderfully done! I even learned somethings I did not know before. Shay was complex and so was Jet. I also really enjoyed getting to know both their families. I think all of us has known a mother like Shay's. I also really enjoyed the sister relationship.

Stacey Glemboski did a wonderful job. She has so much emotion in her voice that she draws you in and keeps you there.

All in all, a really great story and experience!

Sports romance with all the feels!

I am a huge fan of audiobooks, so when I had a chance to listen to a new-to-me author, Ali Dean, I jumped at the chance. The Line below is a sports romance between swimmer Shay and track star Jett, both with Olympic aspirations. Their attraction is instant, but with so much going on in each of their lives, do they have a chance to see what they can have together?

Shay and Jett quickly find a rhythm together. Shay is the good girl who follows the rules. She is determined and smart. Jett is strong, resolute, cocky and caring. They hit it off immediately, but nothing ever comes easy! Their journey is full of angst and drama as they find their way together.

Stacey Glemboski did an amazing job brining this story to life. The Line Below was a sports romance with all the feels, angsty, and lots of chemistry!

Happy reading!

Liked narrator, story was okay.

The Line Below is the first book of Ali Dean I’ve ever read. Sports romance is one of my favorite genres so I was excited for a new authors and to listen to this audio, unfortunately it just wasn’t my jam. This plot fell a bit flat for me and the romance felt forced. I liked the story just fine and the audio was good. I just couldn’t connect with the story/characters this time around enough to love it.

Couple:
•Jett and Shay
•both driven athletes
•chemistry sparked and fizzled
•insta-lust
•he’s bossy-ish, but not throughout entire book
•she’s kind of a pushover

Story:
•steam factor low
•angst level HIGH
•angst felt added just for drama’s sake
•entertainment level JUST FINE
•LOVED relationship between Shay and her sister, Kick

Narration:
•Stacy Glemboski
•easy listening
•soothing, husky voice
•great flow
•good “male” voice
