About this listen

As a tiny village slowly becomes encased in snow and ice, the townspeople and even the queen desperately search for someone to bring back the warmth of the sun. While the strongest and bravest fail, an unassuming little glassmaker is called upon by the town's children. With his silver hair, spectacles, and a warmth of spirit that radiates through all that he does, he teaches the town that "in times of trouble, a little bit of warmth can go a mighty long way."

Perfect for car trips, bedtime stories, or just for quiet time, this captivating audio anthology emerges from professional author and father of two, A.D. Hasselbring. A Thicket of Tales ignites the imagination, builds self-worth, and strengthens confidence through artfully crafted fairy tales with a contemporary voice. Hasselbring’s innovative, family-friendly storytelling engages children, keeping their minds active through positive characters, new vocabulary, and stunning imagery. As each tale unfolds, it paints vibrant portraits of heroes and heroines and encourages children to explore their boundless imaginations in stories that teach life lessons “with a billow of wind wrapped in a gust of imagination.”

A new classic

Would you listen to The Little Glassmaker again? Why?

We have already listened to it 6 or 7 times in 2 days! It's such a sweet story, and really unique.

What other book might you compare The Little Glassmaker to and why?

It has a lot of classic influence like the fairy tales that I grew up with.

Have you listened to any of A.D. Hasselbring’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes! It's very much the same style, and a very different story. These stories are all proving to be winners.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, again perfect length.

Any additional comments?

My kids (6 year old boy and 2 and a half year old girl) both love these stories, along with my 11 year old niece and a couple of her friends. (When they were here being "mother's helper," I actually heard them rewind this story to hear the end when they missed it!)
