About this listen

Sometimes, the shortest distance between ruin and restoration and between lies and truth is the long way.

Damon Fitzpatrick’s life is in ruins. Vilified as the pilot responsible for the plane crash that killed Levi and Charlotte Seaver, Damon lost everything - his reputation, his livelihood, his family, and his future. And Damon knows exactly who to blame - none other than powerful Senator Emmett Shaw, the criminal mastermind behind the crash. No matter how long it takes, Damon is determined to get justice and to get his life back.

Cain Shaw is the poster child for success. As the young, rich, handsome son of a picture-perfect family and the face of his father’s conservative political campaign, he has a bright future ahead of him. But the senator has been hiding secrets that threaten to crack that flawless facade - secrets he’s killed to protect.

Cain is determined to make sure no one else gets hurt, even if it means keeping his own long-held secret. When Damon’s quest for justice goes awry, Cain becomes the older man's unlikely savior, and the two are thrown together in a hunt for evidence that will free them both.

But as the road gets longer, the stakes get higher, and the danger that stalks them draws closer, they must find the strength to trust one another...because the one complication they can’t outrun is each other.

An age gap romantic suspense!

Another amazing sequel to the series
This book starts off from where book 1 ended but with new main characters.
It can be loosely read as a standalone though I definitely recommend reading this in the series order since a lot of events which occue in book 1 are mentioned.

Damon and Cain's story was so interesting. I liked the age difference between them. The chemistry they shared was hot and palpable.

The suspense element that ran parallel to the romance was what kept the plot so compelling.

Michael Dean delivers another stunning narration and audio delivery.

A good cocktail of lust, love and suspense

I think you’ll love this book if you enjoyed listening to the first book in the series “The Easy Way”. I like May Archer because of her effortless and smooth writing and I especially enjoyed her small town stories because they are low on angst, heartwarming and sweet. However, she has proven that she can write variety of intriguing stories with this new series. I’m loving this thrilling and action-packed “The Way Home” series.

In the blink of an eye, Damon lost everything he holds dear in life. Lost, purposeless and sad, Damon is now determined his rightful place back. And he knows just the man to pester to get his life back. And Cain is being tied up and his wings clipped because of his father’s notorious ambitions. He’s also determined to not let any innocent blood spill again. That’s when the cooperation between Damon and Cain comes in. Two men with very different backgrounds but one same goal. It’s good to be drunk on love.

I wasn’t very convinced about Damon being matched up with Cain in the beginning because Cain’s father is the reason why Damon lost everything. But I am really happy to be proven wrong. May Archer skillet weave the tale of these two enemies who are forced to work together. Lust soon turns to love and turns out to be so much more. Plus, lots of intense heat and thrilling actions. And my, that keep-you-on-the-toes suspense. It was really fascinating and enthralling. And I like that we can learn more of the unsolved mysteries in the previous book unraveling. Simply superb. I cannot wait for next book in the series.

Good continuation to a really good series

You really need to read the first book so you get their background. I don't know if I had to pick someone I would have picked Cane for Damon. I think Damon needed someone a bit stronger, and I saw Cane weak at the beginning. But as the story went along, Cane really grew on me. Damon is the pilot of the plane that crashed and he finds out who is ultimately behind the crash and he is going after this person to clear his name. After Cane saves him from a bad situation, Cane decides to help Damon clear his name, though he will not go to the law with what was said in front of him. Damon's newly found sister is being targeted & he goes off to get her & his niece to safety, with the help of Cane. We then watch these two slowly grow to care for each other and to trust each other. What they find out the circumstances of the plane crash was not something I would have thought of and there were no hints to the path that went. I can't wait for the next one to come out on audio.

Totally Amazing!!

A totally amazing follow up to book 1, The Easy Way. It can be read as a stand alone but it's so much better if you've also read the first one in the series. There is an overall story that connects the books in this series and this one has more developments and more facts that are revealed for the overall mystery, while also focusing on the romance of Damon and Cain. Although an unlikely pair, they are perfect together. Their attraction and chemistry right from the start are totally amazing and I love how well they work together as they try to clear Damon's name. Twists and turns abound and will keep you on the edge of your seat! The narrator is totally amazing and truly enhances the story while expertly bringing the characters to life. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audio book.

Archer + Dean = Power Team

Le Sigh. I was already a hopeless devotee of the Way Home trilogy by May Archer. But, having just finished Michael Dean’s narration . . . . sigh. . . . . it got even better.

Cain and Damon sizzle. Despite their multitude of differences, they compliment each other wonderfully. Archer has drafted these amazing characters that jump off her pages. Then Dean takes her beautiful words and craftily breathes life into them, seeming to amplify their passion, emotion and trials by the skillful way he voices them all.

These characters come alive in a delightful way. Instead of passively listening to a story being told, it feels like you’re being immersed in the lives of friends.

I cannot wait for the audio of book 3, featuring my favourite pairing Drew and Bas.

Loved It!

The Long Way is the follow up book to The Easy Way. This story is about a second set of main characters, Damon and Cain. This series just keeps getting better!

May Archer has created a world of suspense, intrigue, love and humor. Damon and Cain will capture your heart and won't let go. Once I started this book I couldn't stop until the last page was read. Michael Dean does such a great job of bringing these characters to life. His voice adds so much extra to this wonderful story.
I can't wait to see what else May has in store for us!

This is a sexy, intense and complex story!

Great writing, tons of action in this complicated tale of power, revenge and love!  Highly recommend!

i was captivated by Damon and Cain.  Their chemistry was touchable and their love and pain will wrap around your heart. This is a sexy, intense and complex story that will draw you in from the first chapter.  Great writing, tons of action and lots of character development in this complicated tale of power, revenge, good guys and bad guys.

Exceptional writing kept the very detailed story-line clear and kept me engaged. There is a broad cast of players, some of which were in book one, and continue to play key roles in this book.  i really enjoyed the way the author added depth and understanding to the plot and kept me guessing and intrigued.

This book could be read as a stand alone story, however it would be so much richer and more fulfilling if you have read book 1.  i highly recommend this terrific story!  I am so looking forward to book 3!!!

Very good listen

Enjoyed this new audio from May Archer and Michael Dean. I liked it when I read the ebook version but I thought it lent itself well to audio! Low angst and a little fluffy, this would be a good jumping in point to someone looking to get started in mm romance.
