Story
Harold S. Kushner turns to the experience of Moses to find the requisite lessons of strength and faith. Moses towers over all others in the Old Testament; he is the man on the mountaintop to whom God speaks with unparalleled intimacy, and he leads his people out of bondage. But he is also deeply human, someone whose soaring triumphs are offset by frustration and longing; his people ignore his teachings, he is denied entrance to the Promised Land, his family suffers. But he overcomes.

Story
American culture focuses on letting go of grudges and redemption narratives instead of the perpetrator’s obligations or recompense for harmed parties. As survivor communities have pointed out, these emphases have too often only caused more harm. But Danya Ruttenberg knew there was a better model, rooted in the work of the medieval philosopher Maimonides. For Maimonides, upon whose work Ruttenberg elaborates, forgiveness is much less important than the repair work to which the person who caused harm is obligated.

Story
Even people who are not professing Christians think they are familiar with the story of the Nativity. Every Christmas, displays of Jesus resting in a manger populate lawns and churchyards, and songs about shepherds and angels fill the air. Yet despite the abundance of these Christian references in popular culture, how many of us have examined the hard edges of this biblical story? Timothy Keller takes listeners on an illuminating journey into the surprising background of the Nativity.

The enlightenment you seek in other religions has been present in Christianity from the beginning. Richard Rohr, a global leader in spiritual awakening, helps you recognize the forces (such as ego resistance and dual thinking) that separate you from your deeper self. Then, drawing from Gospels and the greatest Christian contemplatives, he shows you what it means to be spiritually awake. You will learn why your ego resists change and growth, what is useful about popular ideas such as the law of attraction, what Jesus, the first mythical leader in the West, can teach you.

When Rabbi Naomi Levy came across this poignant letter by Einstein it shook her to her core. His words perfectly captured what she has come to believe about the human condition: That we are intimately connected, and that we are blind to this truth. Levy wondered what had elicited such spiritual wisdom from a man of science? Thus began a three-year search into the mystery of Einstein’s letter, and into the mystery of the human soul.

Scripture is filled with examples of men and women whom God used late in life, often with great impact—Noah, Abraham, Moses, Elizabeth, and Anna, to name a few. They were ordinary men and women who discovered that the latter years of life can be some of the most rewarding and fulfilling. “For them, growing older wasn’t something to be denied or dreaded;” says Billy Graham, “it was to be embraced as part of God’s plan for their lives.” Billy Graham’s life and ministry have been dedicated to the here and now but always with a happy-ever-after in view.

Story
Are you ever concerned that you don’t deserve to love and be loved because you are continually having to prove yourself? In You Are Beloved, Bobby Schuller shows you how to let go of these fears and put your trust in the One who sees you for who you really are. Here is an easy to follow, proven path to personal dignity for all those who think they are not good enough no matter how much they achieve. This path is illuminated by the truths that it is not about what you accomplish, but what has already been accomplished for you; not about what you have, but what has already been provided; and not about who others say you are, but who God says you are. Know that you are valued, cared for, and embraced. You Are Beloved will help you rebuild your life as a response to that assurance.

Story
Did Jesus have bad habits? In our culture we have a tendency to describe Jesus in ways that soften his revolutionary edge. Len Sweet uncovers and presents to us the offensive and scandalous Jesus described in the Bible. Did he disappear when people needed him most? Yes. Did he refuse to answer questions directly? Yes. Did Jesus offend the people of his day? Absolutely yes. Popular author and speaker Len Sweet examines the words and actions of Jesus and places them in context.

Story
I'd Like You More If You Were More like Me takes on one of life's most important questions: How can I get closer to God and other people? We were created for deep connections. When people have deep connections, says John Ortberg, they win in life. When they don't have deep connections, they cannot win in life. I'd Like You More If You Were More like Me offers help in overcoming one of the biggest obstacles to making deep connections: the fact that we're so different. Different from God and different from each other.

The need for change as we get older - an emotional pressure for one phase of our lives to transition into another - is a human phenomenon, neither male nor female. There simply comes a time in our lives - not fundamentally different from the way puberty separates childhood from adulthood - when it's time for one part of ourselves to die and for something new to be born.

Sensational Masterpiece of Explanation
I normally do not indulge in too many religious authors because they normally use too much religious rhetoric. Harold S. Kushner, who is not in the company of the rhetoric authors, explains line for line the 23rd Psalms. He balances religion, science and plain common sense, leading you to a better understanding of the Psalm and GOD's purpose behind the words. By educating the listener on the original Hebrew language in which the Psalm was written, Kushner enriches your understanding of what the Psalm states and how important it is in our spiritual lives. I encourage everyone that is focusing on his/her spirtual journey to listen to this book. Unlike some religious literature, it respects the reader because it offers ideas, rather than force idealogy. I loved this book so much, I went out and bought a copy for my shelf as well.

Good detail
This is interesting and worthwhile, it offers universally related stories and summarizations to help anyone attempt to better understand the 23 Psalm of the Holy Bible. I am thankful for being able to have listened to it and want to re listen to it one more time. The one line that stuck with me the most was "to love another is to accept and choose to be vulnerable". Thank you Mr.Kushner. Thank you Audible.

Powerful Meaningful Understanding
This is such a powerful presentation of the 23rd Psalm that could apply to any person of any denomination. It covers every aspect of life in a meaningful way that assures a person that one can survive. One can go on. It was so enriching that as soon as I completed the first pass I started it all over again. Absolutely refreshing! So very comforting. Entirely illuminating!

Finding new comfort, discovering I can choose to have light in darkness
I am studying the Psalms, above all Psalm 23 and 91. Rabbi Kushner explaines the ins and outs of Psalm 23, giving me a far better understanding of what this wonderful Psalm holds for us... Hope Rabbi Kushner, some day, will do the same for us with Psalm 91... One thing I did feel uncomfortable with was his use of some Christian examples and mentioning Jesus. Although, the examples were used in kind of a neutral background, so... this Noahide can live with it... Thank you Rabbi, you’ve made my life better, helped me to get closer to Hashem. — Alex. alexyaleida@gmail.com

Meaningful
This powerful book speaks to my heart. Rabbi Harold Kushner's explanation and interpretation of the 23rd Psalm has added lasting meaning to my life. By exploring the Psalm line by line, Rabbi Kushner has enabled me to visualize the images in each line of the Psalm so that I can use it as a personal source for meditation. When I became nervous during a medical procedure, I recited the 23td Psalm to myself and it calmed me down so that I could relax. It is a gift, a tool, which I continue to use daily.
