About this listen

The modern world doesn't acknowledge but is nevertheless haunted by spirits—angels, demons, and saints. In our time, many yearn to break free of the prison of a flat, secular materialism, to see and to know reality as it truly is. What is this spiritual reality like? How do we engage with it well? How do we permeate everyday life with spiritual presence?

In The Lord of Spirits: An Orthodox Christian Framework for the Unseen World and Spiritual Warfare, Fr. Andrew Stephen Damick provides a distillation and expansion of the material in the popular podcast The Lord of Spirits, which he co-hosts with Fr. Stephen De Young.

Tour de Force in Spiritual Warfare

One of the most valuable, powerful books on spiritual warfare I’ve ever read—as a Protestant!
The concluding passage shakes heaven and earth with the praises of the Lamb.

There’s truly nothing like listening to the author. Read you their book. Magnificent.

This book offers detail, and comes from an unnatural, fantastic level of knowledge of the author. The book is full of more than words, as the author presents concepts throughout, with the intent of handholding the reader through an experience of learning about The Lord of Spirits.

FOUNDATIONAL FOR BIBLICAL LITERACY

You know the videos where the guy says - I wish I knew THAT before I was in the 30s? He talks about a lot of life hacks.

THIS BOOK is something that should be taught in grade schools to ALL children so they know what is happening. I am pretty familiar with the STORY but NOT the REASONING behind the Story.

NOW we need a study guide and summary and some classes to go with this so people can master this material.

putting pieces together

I love to the point of view that this author takes concerning the Bible and other writings that the early Christian Church used.

Fantastic

There is an entire world of information that most Christians are never exposed to. I never realized how much I didn't know about many gods mention the Bible until The Lord of Spirits.

Performance

It doesn’t seen like he’s reading his book but rather it sounds like he’s giving a sermon.

Excellent Book

Fr. Damick weaves together the Old and New Testaments with the writings of the early church fathers and those of the pagan culture that Christianity arose from thus restoring the original context and narrative that had been lost by Western Protestanism.
