About this listen

A routine helicopter muster in Queensland becomes a fight for survival 65 million years in the past.

Finding dead cattle during the muster was the first sign that something was wrong. The trees and lake were the second and third. But instead of going home, Jessie Hall, his nephew, stockman, and a neighbor investigate.

Jessie feels safe in the R22 helicopter, but when something large knocks him out of the sky and he’s forced to ditch into the water, he realizes that while they might still be in Queensland, they have ended up in the past when the Eromanga sea existed, pterosaurs rules the skies, and what lives in the ancient forest is even worse.

To get home, they’ll have to cross the prehistoric sea where the Kronosaurus hunts.

I was expecting better

I wanted to read this book for the dinosaur survival adventure, but instead it mainly turned out to be a story about a guy struggling to be gay. It was not something that I was expecting to read at all. The main plot was about him being gay, and the dinosaurs were mainly a background element.

broke back in the outback of Jurassic Park

I think the story could have been helped if they had gotten an Australian actor to read the book instead of an American

decent but lacking

a decent story but has a completely unnecessary love story. the writing style left a little to be desired but for the most part, a decent listen.

Not what I expected

I was hoping for an adventure/science fiction story but this is more about a guy struggling with his sexuality and the rest of it is just background for that.

unnecessary

unfortunately this was basically two different story's in one. if you remove the gay relationship then it would have been a cool dino science fiction. if you remove the dino science fiction then it may have been a decent homo romance if you're into that.

Good Intro into Audiobooks

Narrator was a little flat, but overall enjoyable to listen to. A good story with fairly realistic events.

loved it!

Started this for the dinosaurs, I love a good monster story, and usually the obligatory romance sub-plot is something I try to ignore when I go for a book like this. However this time I was happily surprised by a romance that really improved the story! By the end I had forgotten the dinosaurs, and was listening for Jessie and Rory.

just not good

this book is just not good. poorly written. clichéd. narration was ok but the poor guy didn't have much to work with . why kill the kid at the very end ? no point to it.

Interesting story and great narration

This was an interesting story of romance and time travel. Parts brought me to tears and there was an unexpected plot twist, that some reviewers spoiled. The moral of the story, being true to yourself and not wasting time in your pursuit of happiness was so apropos for the times in which we live. The narrator did a fabulous job in expressing the emotion that the characters felt and his skill in doing so was why I was brought to tears. I really enjoyed it and listened straight through.
