About this listen

An early Agatha with romantic heroine, Anne Beddington, up against an unknown evil tyrant. Great fun as the mystery progresses from England to on shipboard. A charming change of pace for Agatha fans from Poirot and Marple. An American narrator.

Short and sweet, a good read except for the awful background noise. I guess it was supposed to be soothing or something, but it drove me crazy.

Background music distracting

The story is vintage Christie and a nice relief from Marple and Poirot. As with other reviews the concept of continuous background music is dubious and the music chosen was really jarring.

Ridiculous Music

I listened to the complete first chapter hoping the xylophone music would stop. it is as loud as the narrator, and has nothing to do with the narrative. it makes it hard to listen to the story!! to is a repetitive noise that cannot be ignored. Agatha Christie is a great author. this reading is a shame.

The repetitive and extremely annoying dinging in the background ruined the experience. A female reader would also have been nice…

The unceasing electronic “music” in the background was annoying. Not sure why it was used but it was distracting.

First off, the reader is terrible! His voice is hard to listen and when he has to talk as a woman....it catches. Hard to really describe. Then there is the constant music in the background! It nearly put me to sleep! There should have been an English woman reading and no music! Love the story...anything by Agatha Christie is at the top. It is how it was delivered I didn't like.

Love the story, not the music

The story and performance by narrator would havae been fine except for that CONSTANT music repeating over and over. Sorry but it didn't work!

music background kills it

I could not listen to this audiobook version. The background music is torture. I wish I could have turned it off.

awful backround music

The book I got was nothing like the description of The MSN in the Brown Suit. Whatever it was, there was a background of maddening music that I kept expecting to stop but never did.

Awful
