Publisher's summary

Penny Wills is devastated after the murder of her father. Things get worse when she learns he arranged a marriage for her to a man she doesn't love. Her only way out is to catch the villain who killed him and collect the reward money.

Marshal Garrett Kincaid can't believe Penny has followed him for three days without his knowledge. Now, he has no choice but to take the prim little hellion with him on a manhunt.

They track the killer together until their attraction to each other pushes their passion to the limit. Anger and embarrassment send Penny sneaking off in the middle of the night. By dawn, she's riding, pursued by an outlaw, a spurned fiancé, and one irate marshal.

Enjoyable Western Romance

I really enjoyed listening to this refreshing western romance. I found the book to have some great humor along with strong characters. I loved the fact that Penny had guts and wasn't a simpering wallflower. Frank the dog stole so many scenes with his unique and endearing behavior. The Marshal Garret was both tenacious and compassionate. Together they were awesome. I thought the unexpected twists in this book were well done too.
I thought the performance of Kevin Iggens was very fitting to the western drawl, and he had the right voice inflection. I had requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I would listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Excellent historical romance listen

Excellent story and characters, I loved following Garrett, Penny, and Pete on their adventures. Plenty of action, humor, and romance made this a fantastic listen. Loved the narrator, he really brought the story to life with emotion and unique voices for each character. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Fun western romance

I think the best part of a book is the character interaction. You can place them in just about any situation, and as long as the characters have good chemistry, the book will be enjoyable. In this case, we have Penny and Garrett. Penny witnesses the murder of her father and now has taken it upon herself to find his murderer. Garrett is the US Marshall going after the same man. These two together have the sparks flying, are facing real danger and are falling in love. Micki Miller has really made Penny a strong, hard headed, thinks with emotion type of woman, which I love. Though she can be frustrating at times, I think she is very realistic with her thought process. Garrett is your rugged, overprotective man and the situations they end up in with the clashes in their personalities will bring a smile to your face. There is some encounters with outlaws, giving some good intrigue and suspense too, making this a fun listen.

Kevin Iggens is the narrator for the story, perfect voice for the western romance story. He has a good pace, with a wonderful drawl, taking you to the western type town in your imagination.

Delightful!

This was a delightful story with some laugh out loud moments. Penny witnesses the murder of her father during a bank robbery and, after hearing some disturbing news, decides to go after the murderer herself. Marshal Garrett Kincaid never imagines the complications he encounters when he goes after the bank robber/murderer. This was a fun story to listen to and I just loved both Penny and Garrett. Kevin Iggens does a good job with the narration. I received this audiobook for free and am providing an unbiased review.

Enjoyed It

This story surrounds a young woman who lost her mom when she was seven and her dad indulged her yet did not spoil her. When her dad is killed the US marshall assigned to finding the murderer. In the meantime, she follows him in his search after discovering what is expected of her after her father's death. Their misadventures and growing attraction follows and the humor included made the book move along. The narrator was very good and made the story come alive. I could have done without the explicit language but I guess it was part of life. I liked the way they worked together and there was just enough suspense to make the story come alive.

the narrator need another recording room

I don't know if I can say I enjoyed the book because probably I would have enjoyed the story but I couldn't because I don't even know if the narrator was good or bad because every single word did the narrator said was a component to a shriek it was very annoying and I couldn't concentrate on the book at all but from what I could I did like the story

Good story, bad narration

I liked this story but the narration was awful. Mr. Iggens would probably be fine for a different book but his portrayal of Garrett, the sexy male lead sounded like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. That just took all the passion between the characters out of this book for me. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

A bit too preposterous me.

I received this audiobook from AudioBoom in exchange for an honest review. Because of this, I forced myself to finish when I would otherwise have abandoned ship towards the beginning. I found the pacing of the story AND the narration to be incredibly slow, and the voice of the hero, Garrett, was particularly unappealing. That said, the story had a satisfying arc with quasi-believable close calls and a satisfying ending. In fact, the romantic resolution at the end was what pushed it from two stars to a reluctant three. There's a sweet dog who saves the day (key my "preposterous" comment) and a few token declarations of support for the burgeoning women's rights movement.

Fun Story

This story was a bit slow but good. It took a while to get to the sexy parts.
I loved the dog and the characters:)
