Publisher's summary

"The end of the world doesn't happen with a bang. It takes slightly longer than that but not by much. Research projects, Gross Anatomy class, tests, and fancy coffee drinks will cease to be important. The fight for her life will become the only thing that matters."

Reagan McClane is a prodigy med school student on the brink of a brilliant career, but the United States and the rest of the world are headed toward total economic and social collapse. And it doesn't take more than a few hours for mass crime, looting, and pillaging to spread across the country like a plague. A brutal attack at her university leads to a fight for her life before Reagan barely makes it home to the safety of her awaiting grandparents and sisters on their family farm in Tennessee.

Three sexy Army Rangers, one of whom is married to Reagan's eldest sister, will join the McClane family to build their farm into an impenetrable fortress that they will fight to keep, no matter the cost. Reagan will find that defending her hardened, scarred heart against ever letting anyone in again will prove even more difficult than survival as one Ranger, in particular, tries to invade it. The McClane Apocalypse is a story of love, survival, and the importance of family during the worst of times imaginable.

Great Book, horrible narrattion

Would you consider the audio edition of The McClane Apocalypse, Book 1 to be better than the print version?

No.

What did you like best about this story?

Nothing

How did the narrator detract from the book?

lt seemed the narrator was reading the story for the first time, without having prereading of the story. Her disjointed reading caused me to stop enjoying the story, many times. This should be re-recorded, with someone who has at least read it a couple of times before putting to tape.

Great Story Poor Narrorator

Love the story, the narrorator doesn't really add any enthusiasm to the story, very monotone.

choppy reading takes away from a good story.

love the story, but at times I wondered if the narrator was a real person. sounded digital and choppy.

Good story but...

I am enjoying the story, although I’m finding it more and more difficult to empathize with the main character. I understand WHY she is, the way she IS ... but still... sometimes, bad behavior is just bad behavior. I want to smack her! The narrator is also getting annoying. She is very clear and precise in articulation... which is good... but, it’s is very mechanical. There is no emotion in the reading. At times, there is inflection in the wrong places. It’s as if she is simply reading a string of words, not telling a story. It is a definite drawback.

Great, with one plot point that bothers me.

I really enjoyed the book as a fan of post Apocalypse fiction. I don't care for romance but I can live with it as long as the rest of the story is good. I don't think the romance is overwhelming. My primary complaint is nuclear weapons causing earthquakes and tsunamis with no fall out. It seems quite implausible but then again I read Zombie books as well so who am I to complain.

One of the best series I’ve ever read

Could not put this down. Wish the remaining books would come to audible. I read them, but would totally listen to the whole series again. So great!

Great story

I wish they would make a movie of these books. I have read them at least 5 times. Can't wait for book 2 to come out on audio.

High hopes for next in series

Narrator is not my favorite however book one is a great "first in series". once the book was over I felt like I knew each character inside and out and how they all interact with each other. I have a feeling the story line will only get better and can't wait to see what happens next!

Good if you like romance novels.

95% romance novel and 5% action. The narration was jerky with little inflection or emotion.
