Karyn and her husband Roy had come to the peaceful California village of Drago to escape the savagery of the city. On the surface, Drago appeared to be like most small rural towns. But it was not. The village had a most unsavory history. Unexplained disappearances, sudden deaths. People just vanished, never to be found.

Story
Summer, 1989. It is a time for splashing in the lake and exploring the wilderness, for nine teenagers to bond together and create friendships that could last the rest of their lives. But among this group there is a young man with a secret—a secret that, in this time and place, is unthinkable to his peers. When the others discover the truth, it will change each of them forever. They will all have blood on their hands. Odd Man Out is a heart-wrenching tale of bullies and bigotry, a story that explores what happens when good people don't stand up for what's right.

First they feasted on farm animals. Then they found humans.... A little girl was dead, attacked, and mutilated by some things, creatures of nightmare that were spreading outward like the Black Death, stripping the entire town bare of life. The death toll mounted, with bodies maimed or ripped to shreds, and thousands cowered in the shadows, hiding fearfully from the death out of the skies, the millions of sucking probosci eagerly reaching out for the attack.

The Necronomicon was not the first book by H.P. Lovecraft to terrify readers with tales of dark and twisted horrors from beyond. No, the Al-Azif, or Book of the Insect, is the first work that told mankind of Cthulhu, Azathoth, and other terrors. Indeed, it was the book that inspired "The Mad Arab" Abdul Al-Hazred to write its more famous successor.

Crease is known in Weaver as ‘the bug guy', the man who takes care of insects and other critters. But what emerges from the shadows of the town's waste plant is beyond anything found in nature. Fist-sized cockroaches. Bird-sized wasps. Spiders, millipedes, ticks, all swollen to enormous bulk with vicious appetites to match. And other things, creatures that should never exist.

Seriously Good
Look, there is a lot going on in this book. Twice I started it from the beginning because I felt like I needed to take notes. Even that being said I loved this book. It was almost nonstop scifi action. I really wished it was longer. I've got questions, so many questions. I will definitely listen to this book again.

Great cyberpunk!
This one is great. Really interesting, well written cyberpunk action with weird tech, weird monsters, and weird ruminations on the future of humanity. My only complaint is that it’s too short! So many big, cool ideas going on and it’s not able to dive into everything with the gusto it maybe should. This would be a real achievement if it were about six hours longer.
As is, though, this one is well worth your time.
