About this listen

In Agatha Christie’s classic mystery, The Mirror Crack’d from Side to Side, a fatal dose of poison meant for a glamorous movie star fells her ardent admirer instead—and Miss Marple is there to unmask a murderer.

One minute, silly Heather Babcock had been babbling on at her movie idol, the glamorous Marina Gregg. The next, Heather suffered a massive seizure, poisoned by a deadly cocktail.

It seems likely that the cocktail was intended for the beautiful actress. But while the police fumble to find clues, Miss Marple begins to ask her own questions, because as she knows—even the most peaceful village can hide dark secrets.

Excellent plot line and excellent narrator!

It’s hard to believe that Agatha Christie could be such a prolific writer of innovative and original murder mysteries! The narrator, has always, did an excellent job bringing life to each of the characters – – especially Miss Marple.

Excellent Agatha Christie

Emilia Fox is an excellent narrator, and she does a great job voicing the multiple characters in this charming British mystery.

The Mirror Cracked Review

A very good Jane Marple mystery. Emilia Fox is an excellent narrator of Agatha Christie’s novels.

Great story, annoying American accents

I love Agatha Christie and, normally, I love Emilia Fox’s narrations BUT her American accents really need work! It sounds like she’s never met a real American before! It wouldn’t have been so bad if most of the main characters in this book weren’t American but it got EXTREMELY annoying that every one of them said “ideer” instead of ”idea” and spoke really haltingly and slowly with abnormal inflections. Overall, though, another great book from the Queen of Mystery!

Good story but I figured it out immediately

I enjoyed the story but sadly I figured out the mystery immediately. As soon as they said who died I knew precisely whodunit and why. Call it a mother's intuition or whatever you'd like, but I wasn't fooled by any of the misdirection in the mystery. I enjoyed the story despite figuring it out way too soon, but it won't ever be my favorite Agatha Christie mystery since I sat on the solution for far too long... great narration as always by Emilia Fox!

Great book, bad American accents

Great story and ending, but the narrator's American accents were distractingly bad. Still worth a listen though!

Another gem

I think everyone is well-aware that Agatha Christie is—pardon my cheek—a hell of a writer.
She died when I was 1 year old.
I am 47 & still enthralled with her stories, even the ones that *should* be completely ludicrous.
Seriously, I’m still trying to understand how various ludicrous plots, coincidences are not ludicrous but genius.
Emilia Fox has an AMAZING voice & is super-talented. British people affecting American accents are pretty much terrible as a rule, but I’m sure the reverse is true as well. My totally unscientific theory based on absolutely no skill, experience, evidence, or anything at all is many voice actors focus so intensely on getting the accent “right,” it doesn’t leave room for acting.
But Emilia Fox has a beautiful voice.

Excellent!

Beautifully written and beautifully performed.
Emilia Fox is wonderful. And the more I listen to Dame Agatha Christie' s writing the more I realize her amazing talent.

Obvious murderer but interesting setting

Not one of Agatha Christie’s puzzlers this. Things get obvious pretty quickly for the reader. What interested me was the setting and how marple even in old age is able to deduce without having to be around using conversations with her help and friends
