About this listen

A little too smart, a little too fat, Bobby Goodspeed has always been a go-along-to-get-along kind of guy. He and his fellow misfits Skeezie, Joe, and Addie have accepted their place in the middle school ecology, and the mockery that comes with it. Then Addie decides to tackle the student council elections and suddenly Bobby finds his life - and his self! - changing in ways he never could have imagined. Brought to sparkling life by a cast of over two dozen actors, this tender, touching, utterly hilarious tale of life as a middle school misfit will delight not only those who are in middle school, but all those who have survived the experience.©2001 James Howe (P)2002 Full Cast Audio Difficult Situations Friendship Young Adult Romance Funny Witty

Awesome! But a MAJOR necessity is...

As a middle school teacher, I am reading this book with my students! I read quite a bit aloud and I let them listen to the audible. Breaking this down by actual chapters would be PHENOMENAL!!!! I had to listen and write down where every chapter began. We are only able to read a few each day per class.

excellent!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Misfits to be better than the print version?

No. But it is a great compliment to the book. I use it in my 7th Grade class in my unit on Character Education. It helps the students who are not good readers to listen to it as we are following along in class.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Misfits?

Most students like the funny parts.

What does Spencer Murphy and the Full Cast Family bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It helps with the words they are not familiar with.

Any additional comments?

Good addition to the book!

Great

I love the way the story was written and the storyteller was very good with the voices. I think this is a very good book. But try the sample first if you don’t believe me

WELL DONE! The Misfits by James Howe

Any additional comments?

This production of The Misfits by James Howe makes the story even better! The characters come to life through the voices of actors playing the characters. As a middle school teacher, it was a great way to introduce the book to a group of students. The various voices piqued the interest of our students and got them ready to read this selection in a semi-independent format. Thank you for this very well done audiobook!

Not much of a plot!

There are some good messages and themes, but the plot is incredibly weak! Not at all up to the caliber of Bunnicula!

A wonderful, funny, feel-good story

I listened to this book with my 12 year old son, and we both loved it! The book is humorous, but also carries a great message about the power of words to hurt others. I found myself wishing I'd been as brave in my own middle-school days as Bobby Goodspeed and his friends, who found a way to say NO to name-calling!

I love this book!!!

At first I thought this was just a ordinary book I had to read for my summer reading book than I really got into the book and loved it. The book has such great meaning in it and its very good to think about the situations in this book and think how can you act on it. Totally recommend!!!❤️

Terrible Narration

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Contractions aren't used so the writing sounds juvenille and contrived. No one talks like that.

Any additional comments?

I am sure this is a great book but it was impossible for me to get past the narration.
