About this listen

From USA Today best-selling author Tracy Lorraine comes a new dark bully college romance.

Some demons we can't outrun.

Kane Legend is mine.

The gorgeous boy who always finds me.

The ruthless bully I've spent my life avoiding.

Even leaving Harrow Creek wasn't enough to escape his torment.

Because I didn't stay away and neither could he.

One weekend home...one party.

One night that ruined everything.

He wanted revenge, and he got it, because my life is never going to be the same.

Kane Legend made sure I'd never forget him....

My biggest mistake.

The Mistakes You Make is a prequel to my new Maddison Kings University series and is set 18 months before The Revenge You Seek. It's a dark bully romance. If you don't like your alphas possessive and over the top, then this might not be for you.

Prequel too short for the Credit

Since this was only a prequel, I haven’t really decided what to think about the two main characters. It sounds like a typical college bully romance, but there’s a mystery to it. We’re not told why Scarlet is hated so much until the very end of this prequel.

This is the first time I’ve heard these generators and I think they are doing an OK job, but I’m not loving them right now. I think it’s because the book was too short and didn’t give me time to really enjoy their talent. I’ll know more after I listen to the next book in the series.

The Mistakes You Make

The Mistakes You Make is a prequal to the Maddison Kings University series. This book is told from Scarlett Hunter's and Kane Legend's point of view. This is set 18 months before the first book in the series. They are at a party, and something happens which is what leads us into the first book. You don't have to read this book before the first book, but I feel you should as it has some important points that come up in the first book.

I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait to get to know more about Kane and Letty.

Pretty good

I definitely miss the accents from the Knights Ridge Empire Series.
But this did entice me enough to start on the first book in the series, and it's great so far.

Good background

This is a good background to the series, It's a real quick listen but helps with understanding the rest of the series. Narration was done well.

Intense and entertaining

Great grabber of a story. Intense, alpha bad boy Kane Legend is not to be messed with, and he is out for retribution against Scarlett whom he believes wronged him. This short story covers their explosive encounter while Scarlett, or Letty, was in town from college to visit a friend. Crazy steam and toxicity created an entertaining story.

The voice actress was good, great accents, but she narrated too quickly, particularly when shifting from narration to dialogue, which sometimes made the two sound the same. The male voice actor was good though I expected the male actor's voice to be, or be performed, in deeper tones as Kane's character gives that impression. Still, I liked the duet narration and their overall performances.

Short but hot

Definitely a perfect start to a very interesting story. I want more and I cannot wait to get my credit to purchase the story of Scarlett and Kane. Definitely a must get.

I’m struggling

I binge listened to all of the available Knights Ridge books and I picked up on a LOT of Tracy Lorraine’s tendencies. I know every author has them, but hers got to be so repetitive to the point of annoying. I couldn’t enjoy the story any longer and made it a game to tally every time she used a redundant phrase or action. I was hoping it was just an ongoing theme for that series, but nearly all of them were included in this 1 hour prequel. I can’t imagine committing to a whole series of the same phrases, tropes, and body language being copied and pasted on new characters with different names.
The intimate scene is SA, the FMC is grabbed by the throat, they bite each other to the point of leaking bodily fluid, they tell each other they hate each other, and there’s the mysterious misunderstanding that probably could be resolved with a simple conversation but will drag on for a whole book while being smattered with inappropriate steamy scenes.
While we’re on a roll, Tracy should really invest in a copy editor or beta readers or something. Every time she uses “more than” or “less than” gratuitously, I want to put an ice pick in my ear. The ground was more than wet. I was more than ready. It was more than crowded. I was less than impressed. The shelf was less than stable. The room was less than cozy.
Honestly, it’s every paragraph. Just say what you mean.
And the narrators aren’t GREAT, but I think they are doing the best they can with what they were given.

One credit for less than an hour book that BS

Impossible to want to listen further after being completely ripped off of a credit for very little of the book. 55 mins equals one credit! This should be free!
