Publisher's summary

Through the ages, mankind has pursued questions of faith in something beyond the world of ordinary experience. Is there a God? How can we explain the presence of evil? Do humans, or human souls, live on after death? Is there a hell? The following lectures examine these eternal questions and present the most compelling arguments for and against God's existence, the seeming conflicts between religion and science, and the different truth-claims of the world's most popular religions. By delving into the major characteristics of world religions, including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism, mankind's association with the many different varieties of religious practice is brought to light. Above all, Faith and Reason: The Philosophy of Religion lays the groundwork for a rational approach to pursuing questions of faith - and at the same time provides a better understanding of religion's ongoing importance in the realm of human experience.

A Plus....excellent!

The content is excellent, and the audio quality is very good.

My best friend is a science teacher and agnostic. I am a Christian and I teach English. Both of us have taught for about 30 years, and we both are curious about reality (whatever it is) and we both want to know more than we now know.

Both of us love this audio. We find that Dr. Kreeft has presented his discussion in a reasonable and balanced fashion. His arguments are proper and structured very well.

I will listen to this book several times. I have finished hearing it once so far, and that led me to purchase six print books of Dr. Kreeft's. I would welcome the chance to purchase more of his audiobooks.

While Dr. Kreeft is a Christian, he does not let his faith keep him from a balanced, logical discussion of the use of reason in faith issues.

Some Insights and Some Doubts

The problems faced by philosophy of religion and the diverses ways to approach them are presented in this course. The matter was well arranged but the various lectures could be better identified. Sometimes, listening to the course, one cannot distinguish them. Professor Kreeft exposition is clear and gives to the listener an overview of the most important questions of the field. The arguments each controversial question produced are exposed, giving the listener a way to develop further reflections. A course worth listening.

Definitely Worth Downloading

I love the way Peter Kreeft attempts to provide all arguments for all sides... and i love that he numbers them, it makes it really easy to listen to. Usually if i pause too long on a philosophical reading i find i need to go back and re-listen to bring myself up to speed. But Kreeft's lectures are thoroughly enjoyable and accessible even in more bite size doses. Each topic was interesting and his voice was easy to listen to.

Outstanding

The first chapter was a bit dry but he quickly delves deep and allows the brain get to work. Thoroughly enjoyed Prof. Kreeft's knowledge and presentation. Also purchased his lectures on Aquinas and will look for other subjects by him as well because I will know of it's quality

Thorough, thoughtful, thought provoking

The best courses not only teach something, they also cause the student to think. This logically crafted, fascinating course does all of that. Strongly recommended to those who wish to learn new concepts and to be challenged to think for themselves.

Excellent Clear & Easy to follow! Recommended

Dr Kreeft presents the spectrum of thought on religion with clear definitions, presentation of arguments in favor or against, each religion or doctrine as would be by proponents or opponents. There is no preference or final judgement included. There is a great deal of information, understanding, and motivation to seek answers personally.
Very well done!

Enlightenment plain and simple

If one desires to somehow "get a handle" on the world's major belief systems, this is the book for you. Krefeld is a remarkably plain speaking philosopher, a manner of particular comfort for me. He is a good "docent" on a tour to settle the soul.

excellent lectures by Prof Kreeft.

he is very knowledgeable and yet he has the intellectual humility to tell his listeners that he could be wrong on certain subjects that are outside his expertise.
