Publisher's summary

The Zondervan Biblical and Theological Lectures series provides a unique audio learning experience. Full of wonderful information.

I always learn something from Tom Wright and Michael Bird. I love the way they present the gospel.

Bad Audio Quality

The content is great. The arrangement is clear. The audio/production quality (at least in parts) is abysmal. I expected better audio mastering by an Audible production.

Fantastic Summary

Fantastic summary of the central tenets of the New Testament. Well researched and thought out. The message of Jesus as seen through the eyes of the first Christians.

Excellent!

N.T. Wright and Michael Bird puts the story of Jesus in it’s historical context which ironically shows how relevant it is for us today. The King of Israel is in fact the King of the world. I would highly recommend this to both Christians and skeptics. All to often we in the West interpret Christ through our own cultural context. The richness of the gospel comes to life in a first century Jewish context which is where Wright and Bird grapple with the crucified and risen Christ. Beautiful message.

It was good

It was good. The presentation was a little clunky. The Contant of course is outstanding.

Understanding the Story of Jesus - Part 1

Tom Wright and Michael Bird combine to present an unequalled understanding of the Gospels, Paul's and other letters, Hebrews and Revelations. Their combined tag-team presentation provides a remarkable approach for learning and understanding.

A bit uneven but worth hearing

The content on the resurrection is fantastic. The authors integrate the historical and theological dimensions quite well. Not every section receives the same treatment. Some sections are very detailed and analytical while other sections seem
more casual. The bonus material is outstanding. Despite the unevenness of some of the
material the content is definitely worth hearing.

Resurrection seen with new freshness

Loved the understanding of the Jewish, Greek, and Roman worlds, and how they impacted the early church. This book helped me to see afresh the resurrection of Jesus. It expanded what I knew of the magnitude of the resurrection in the lives of early Christians and changed my own view of its importance.

This is an amazing resource

This is an amazing resource for understanding the New Testament! The two lecturers are deeply grounded in orthodoxy and history. I was learning so much from listening that I started it over as soon as I finished this the first time though. I am planning to hear it again soon!
