Publisher's summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A desperate manhunt ensues for a killer who preys upon his victims’ minds—just before he claims their lives—in this blockbuster novel from #1 bestselling author Lisa Gardner.

What do you do when a killer targets the people you love the most? When he knows how to make them vulnerable? When he knows the same about you?

These are the questions that haunt FBI Special Agent Pierce Quincy. The police say his daughter’s death was an accident. Quincy will risk everything to learn the truth—and there’s only one person willing to help. Ex-cop Rainie Conner had once been paired professionally—and personally—with the brilliant FBI profiler. He helped her through the darkest days of her life.

Now it’s time for Rainie to return the favor. But this killer is like none these two hard-boiled pros have ever encountered. This twisted psychopath has an insatiable hunger for revenge...and for fear. As the clock ticks down to one unspeakably intimate act of vengeance, the only way Rainie can unmask this killer is to step directly in his murderous path. She will become a murder waiting to happen. She will be . . . the next accident.

Not bad as a story but technically poor.

This was a good well written story but Lisa Gardner has no clue about firearms. Glocks do not have safeties and S&W Chief Specials do not have safeties either. Also Glocks do not come with stainless steel slides or barrels. I also wish she would stop calling the smell of gunpowder as smelling like cordite. There is no cordite in gunpowder. She writes a great story but needs to learn to research her weapons first.

Great story

Another great story with characters that I love. It was very suspenseful. The only downside was the voice used for the killer, it was really annoying. Also every once in a while there were lines that were repeated twice. Overall really great.

Can't put this one down

This is one of the best Lisa Gardner books yet. The plot was so intricate and fascinating. It grabs you and doesnt let go. I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator's male voices and was shocked at the poor editing. There needs to be more QC at Audible. Next time this happens I will ask for a credit. Several times during the book there were lines that were repeated. At one point the narrator pronounced the main character's name incorrectly.

What happened?

I have purchased many books from Audible. This story was good the recording was not so good. There were at least eight places in the book were the audio repeated. Very annoying and constantly made me think there was something wrong with the book or my phone. Made listening to the story less enjoyable.
