About this listen

In this enchanting sequel to the number one best seller The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Mitch Albom tells the story of Eddie’s heavenly reunion with Annie - the little girl he saved on Earth - in an unforgettable novel of how our lives and losses intersect.

Fifteen years ago, in Mitch Albom’s beloved novel, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, the world fell in love with Eddie, a grizzled war veteran turned amusement park mechanic who died saving the life of a young girl named Annie. Eddie’s journey to heaven taught him that every life matters. Now, in this magical sequel, Mitch Albom reveals Annie’s story.

The accident that killed Eddie left an indelible mark on Annie. It took her left hand, which needed to be surgically reattached. Injured, scarred, and unable to remember why, Annie’s life is forever changed by a guilt-ravaged mother who whisks her away from the world she knew. Bullied by her peers and haunted by something she cannot recall, Annie struggles to find acceptance as she grows. When, as a young woman, she reconnects with Paulo, her childhood love, she believes she has finally found happiness.

As the novel opens, Annie is marrying Paulo. But when her wedding night ends in an unimaginable accident, Annie finds herself on her own heavenly journey - and an inevitable reunion with Eddie, one of the five people who will show her how her life mattered in ways she could not have fathomed.

Poignant and beautiful, filled with unexpected twists, The Next Person You Meet in Heaven reminds us that not only does every life matter, but that every ending is also a beginning - we only need to open our eyes to see it.

I hope that we do meet five then wait for five.

Mr. Mitch,
From the depths of my heart and the being of my soul, I say Thank you to you and to your uncle Eddie. Thank you, thank you, Thank you. The first book came to me when I was going thru a rough time in life and it changed me. It reminded me that yes I know the what and one day I will understand the why's. I could go on and on about these books, about you being my all time favorite author, and how your words have touched me. However this is supposed to be a review on this particular book so I will just say it's wonderful. I have recommended it to all my family and friends and now I do the same for all Audible listners. Thank you to Audible for not only giving me the opportunity to hear this beautiful story but also to hear it from the lips of its amazing creator. Thank you.

Great story.

Loved the story and character development. I usually can predict endings of books, but I didn’t predict this one. I didn’t love the narrator and first, but his voice grew on me.

He does it again!

Every time I read/listen to one of these books I think I couldn’t possibly love it as much as the others, I was wrong. I didn’t know how much I needed a sequel to the five people you meet in heaven until I started this book.

Completely in awe.

I am a huge fan of all Mitch Albom books. This story was moving, captivating, emotional and got me thinking. Thinking about how every life we touch, everything we do... all has meaning. There is a reason for everything, even when we don't realize it. This author is amazing. Love it!

Amazing and sweet

If you forgot anything about the Five People you Meet in Heaven there’s enough here to completely remind you. And if you didn’t read that, you can still love this! This book is so well done and touching. And a perfect follow up to the first. Shows we are all connected and that love always reigns over fear!

Awesome walking accompaniment...

I was wanting to listen to something while I go walking and i found myself swelling and tearing up over the story! Passerbys thought something was wrong with me, but I really didn't care. The story was lovely, heartfelt and the best part was seeing the connections revealed to the main character as she made her way through heaven..
