About this listen

Joy Parker had the perfect childhood. Doted on by her parents, she couldn’t imagine her childhood any differently. As a child and later a young adult, she’s ignored by her much older siblings, made to feel the outsider…until a tragedy occurs, altering her life in ways she couldn’t possibly have imagined.

The next few years of her life are vastly different from her parents’ hopes and dreams for her. Then suddenly another life-altering event changes the course of her life, and she must make decisions she never dreamed possible. Winning the largest lottery in Wisconsin history opens the flood gates of possibility and means Joy must again decide which direction to take with the rest of her life.

What would you do if you won $341,726,178.10 after taxes? Come along for the ride as we discover what Joy Parker decides to do with it…

So Inspiring

Joy Parker truly persevered, survived the most horrendous homeless conditions. She was street smart. Managed to get some work. Managed not to get herself killed. Made alliances with the street hood gang leader. After she won the lottery she transformed herself becoming one with the wealthiest in the world with elegance and sophistication. Joy actually puts her wealth to use changing the lives of the homeless giving them homes and jobs. I believe K'Anne has written a book that could be an actual model for changing lives in a meaningful way. K'Anne also included a model for housing the elderly with dementia and other problems. K'Anne has definitely done her research as to the needs for these populations.

Great story of people that are truly givers and not takers. I recommend this to all that are nice people to see how you may make a difference.

Heartwarming

K’Anne Meinel has written a beautiful heartwarming story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This is a story about a young woman who loses her parents at 14 and ends up living on the streets at 16. She has to develop some street smarts to survive and maintain her moral compass then through some life changing events finds herself able to give back to the streets more than she ever got.

Sharon Robbins performance was excellent. Sharon’s depiction of the voices sounded just as I imagined them when I read the book.

I see homeless people every day and have even helped a few. I wish I was able to do what Joy did in this book.

Give it a listen

I thought it was enjoyable to listen to and the narrator wasn't bad at all. The author clearly researched a lot of things in this book. It was definitely worth the credit.
