About this listen

This 2-in-1 box set collects both installments in Liv Zander's Pale Court duet: King of Flesh and Bone and Queen of Rot and Pain. This duology is a dark-fantasy romance featuring a ruthless man, a woman who can't escape his love, and a Happily Ever After.

This world contains dark themes, violence, loss, and elements of horror some may find disturbing. What this book doesn't contain is a hero—because villains do it better.

A twist on Death takes a vacation. Good story and yes plenty of graphic female eroticism. Most women will enjoy the female eroticism, though I wouldn’t recommend it for those women under 16 and probably 18. I enjoyed the story. Wish there had been more God of Whispers. The power exchange between the main characters is done very well.

Good story all around

I wish it was duet narration instead of dual narration. If the male narrator had done the voice for Enosh in every chapter, the audiobook would have been much better. The male narrator has a fantastic voice. The female narrator is great too, but I prefer each character to have their own voice.

The story is enjoyable. Liv Zander makes some great morally black MMCs.

Wish it was duet narration

Apart from how completely irritating the mmc was in the second book for at least half of it, the story was great. There was no miscommunication in the second book. He just refused to listen to her completely. He chose not to trust her and silenced here every time she spoke. Apart from that getting old and annoying, the book was good. The dual narration didn’t bother me in this audio. The fmc narrator did a good male “god” voice. The male narration did a decent job with the female voice as well.

Dual narration. Liked didn’t love

love. I was so invested that this book literally brought me pain and angst, but it was all so worth it.

sadistically seducing

the plot is sussed out pretty well, and isn't the most predictable, even if done before. check trigger warnings as the is a DARK romantasy. but if you don't have a lot of triggers, this author is AMAZING.

the plot got me good

A truly incredible dark, fantasy romance. A lot of spice, very dark and love - exactly what you'd expect from the masterful Liv Zander. If you loved the Court of Ravens duology, you'll love this duet. And if you haven't had the pleasure of reading the Court of Ravens books and enjoyed The King of Blesh & Bone, you are REALLY in for a treat.

Liv Zander is the Queen of Dark Fantasy and Spice!

The duet was amazing. The language the author used is beautiful. The story is beautiful. The spice is great, not too bad. I loved it!!!! The narrators were perfect.

Omg. The angst!!!!!

Deliciously dark and steamy. I didn't get the ick like some reviewers. It simply never came and I'm not sorry. This was world building at it's finest and I found it hard to put down. I also found myself rooting to the FMC to tap into her darkness (even sooner than she eventually did) and take her revenge. Narration was spot on perfection. Would love to see the brothers find love. Fingers crossed. Overall, A+ for me.

Good till the last drop. It's an A+ for me!

Queen of Rot

This book 2 inspired many emotions. It went from spicy to sadness, loss of a child, rebirth, revenge, redemption, jealousy rage, misunderstanding unending pain and forgiveness.
Pros: The plot with a balance of spice.
The cons: the heartache you have to go through to see the sun. The con is a pro and this book is worthy of reading. This is a true dark romance. This story believe it or not ended happy ever after. If the author were to do a book 3 I see how it can happen. The world building is on point. I enjoyed this story.

Soo deep and engaging!!!

Loved this. The narrators knocked these characters out of the park.
Just fair warning, this is a DARK fantasy romance. I’ve seen negative reviews because it was “too dark” but compared to some dark roms I’ve read it wasn’t that bad honestly. But if you do not read dark, and no ACOTAR is not very dark, then this may not be for you. The MMC does a few questionable things to the FMC but he doesn’t allow her to be in physical pain despite trying to keep her in his court. There is DubCon as well. They’re very body betrayal type situations.

But if you love dark romance, with a dash of horror aspects, and fantasy with good world building but kept somewhat simple, you’ll like this.
Our MMC is a villain character with hidden depths and he’s been scorned once, and refuses to love again. In the second book we start to see more of his growth and it was so satisfying to get to the end in terms of his ARC. Our FMC has such a kind heart and is one of the most loyal people.
Seeing her growth into the Queen of Rot and Pain was really fun because she didn’t lose who she was at all. She just became more balanced.

Overall, a really fun dark romantasy. I’m mad I put this book off for so long. I honestly recommend it, just mind your triggers. And honestly, take all the more negative reviews with a grain of salt. Some made me think it would be worse than it was lol

Happy reading!
