Great story line

This book was very well written. The author clearly did his homework on every aspect of the book. It was a bit slow about a third of the way through, but I’m so glad I stuck with it. I gave it five stars because it met all my expectations in the end. I am now searching for more of Bryan Devore’s books. Well done.

Solid 4 Stars but Not 5

The story is well told with enough character development that the listening/reader becomes involved in the outcome. Lots of action, good detail. But there are some flaws too big to ignore hence only 4 stars. (a) it was clear why what had turned the lead terrorist into a terrorist (b) too much Hannibal - enough already (c) the ending just didn't work for me (Rebecca leaving David, Rebecca leading the detail with virtually no recovery time, the mystery man with the cane).

Good, but wordy

Great book, but a bit wordy at times. Could have been an hour shorter and then would have been 5 star.

Accuracy

Do your research,

There is no such thing as a .357 automatic pistol.

The inaccuracy, on many points, just ruins the story.

Great Book, and a nice new hero!

What made the experience of listening to The Paris Protection the most enjoyable?

I chose this book because Dick Hill was the narrator. I always enjoy his narration, and was pleasantly surprised that the story was really good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Paris Protection?

I don't know if there is just one moment. I enjoyed the flow of the book with events unfolding and flashbacks.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and I actually choose books that he narrates. Love his narration and this one doesn't disappoint.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Any additional comments?

I am looking forward to another book from this author. Is this a new series?

Found a New Author!

I came across a recommendation for this book from another Audible reader's review that I respect. I am a huge fan of Brad Thor, Lee Child, etc. The problem is I finish each new book and then have a long wait for the next, so I'm constantly looking for new authors. Most I find are mediocre and simply fill the time. I am excited to say this book far exceeded my expectations. It was full of action from the first page and you could feel the tension the characters were experiencing. I also loved that one of the main characters was female, without much information given about her appearance but the focus was on her abilities! I will definitely be adding Devore to my list of must read authors!

Good read

Though Mr. Devore's writing (at least, in this book) is frustratingly pedantic, I was eager for the story to end, and that's evidence of how suspenseful it was. The story covered only a few hours, but I bit my nails all the way through. I appreciated the strong female protagonist and the fact that even the bad guys had credible backstories. As a history buff, I didn't dislike the Hannibal stories, but they were often distracting. That said, I would recommend the book.

Dick Hill destroyed this book !! he needs to go

The seemingly endless whining and incapablness of the female secret service agent is pathetic!! Makes it difficult to finish.

Returned it

The author gets so sidetracked with speeches and overly explaining the tiniest of details that when, after a few chapters in and the main catalyst to the story still hadn't occurred, I returned it. The narration was also less than enjoyable; over the top style and volume that would be better suited to the stage than listening to with headphones on.
