5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are interesting and engaging. The plot is well developed and entertaining. I was hesitant to get this book because I thought it would be too cutesy. It was not. It had a solid plot and I will get the next book in this series.

Cat lovers delight

Cassie McGlone, has recently moved to a new town, Chadwick, NJ. She has decided to start her own business as a cat groomer/behaviorist & boarding service called Cassie’s Comfy Cats. Also she needed to get away from her former boyfriend, Andy, who was becoming more & more abusive as well as stalking her. Her best friend, Dawn, lives there as well which helped her in deciding a new place to start over. As her business is beginning to grow, she now needs help & hires an older lady, Sarah, who fits right in. One of her clients, George DeLeuw, has insisted that Cassie must come to his home to groom his beautiful white Persian, Harpo. George is quite wealthy & pays very well, so Cassie, needing the money, has been grooming Harpo for a few weeks. After hiring Sarah this gives Cassie more time for “home grooming”. When arriving @ Mr. DeLeuw’s for Harpo’s next grooming session, Cassie finds Harpo outside hiding under a bush & is taking him inside when she finds the front door ajar. Carrying Harpo & calling out as she enters the home, she closes the door & puts Harpo on the floor. Harpo immediately goes down the hall & enters a room. Cassie follows & finds George DeLeuw sprawled on the floor with blood pooling around his head. His housekeeper comes to the door & starts screaming. Cassie calls 911 & thus begins the mystery. The story is filled with lots of suspects & the usual twists & turns of finding the murderer. Even Cassie is a suspect @ first. I did enjoy this book filled with cats, cats & more cats but found it difficult to believe Cassie was given such leeway in her own investigation of the case. She was actually fairly encouraged to do so. All in all, being an animal lover, I will most likely give Book 2 a try as this series does show a lot of promise.
