On board Phoenix Airlines Flight 320, Andrew Goddard awakens to discover the cockpit empty and all the passengers unconscious.

Long Live Sam Reilly

The Phoenix Sanction: Sam Reilly, Book 14.. Another great adventure story in the series. Gripping as always, lots of action and a few strange twists to the tale. Many technical details that have become a hallmark of this series.
Highly recommend this novel - which can be read as a standalone.

Sam Reilly is Awesome!

This is another book in the Sam Reilly series and I very much enjoyed it. This series is not for everyone, think along the lines of Sam Spade, but I find I have a hard time stopping for the night or even pausing when my attention is needed elsewhere. I'm always intrigued how the author will apply history to his stories and what impact it will have on Sam. There's action, adventure, suspense and mystery. There's nothing gory or over the top about this series and I find I enjoy that very much. The narration was superbly done by David Gilmore which is nothing new to those of us who have listened to the series from book one to now. I enjoy how his narration is understated, which (to me) adds to the story.

Recent Events Inspire a Sam Reilly Thriller

Two events happen and it will take Sam Reilly to make the connection.

An Airline Pilot awakes to find the crew and all the passengers unconscious. An old miner discovers an Obsidian mask. The mask is one of 7 representing 7 species of man throughout the ages. Do the masks have anything to do with the Master Builder's? If the masks fall into the wrong hands, a deadly plague could be released that will wipe out mankind.

Sam Reilly to the rescue!

These books are just plain fun listens

Another Cartwright book finished, and again it seems like it is done far too soon. If you have read one of these books already, then you know what to expect...action, adventure, narrow escapes, plots that are almost based on science, and beautiful women. If you haven't, then what are you waiting for?

I think all of these books can stand on their own, but it helps quite a lot to read a few of the earlier books to understand the background. Cartwright has assembled an interesting world, and each book fills in a little more information. I look forward to learning more from the rest.

Narration is solid, but please learn to pronounce some of the words...like epitome should really not rhyme with Rome.

King's Quest?

The story revolves around the Eternity Masks; a collection of seven carved masks representing the seven Homo-species of the Homo Group; i.e., Homo heidelbergensis, Homo rudolfensis, Homo habilis, Homo erectus, Homo floresiensis, Homo neanderthalensis, and Homo sapiens. Should the masks wind up in the wrong hands it could release the dreaded Phoenix Plague. (I tried researching these masks to see if they were real but only came up with references to two RPG PC games; King’s Quest and Pillars of Eternity.) As in earlier Sam Reilly adventures references to the Master Builders arose. The story is exciting, with historical and imaginary facts abounding. I enjoy the Sam Reilly series and will definitely read more of the volumes. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Very good

I found this audiobook to be a very good listen. It has a great combination of mystery, suspense and drama. The narrator does a perfect job of reading each character.

Outstanding read!

The Phoenix Sanction, my fourteenth read from author Christopher Cartwright & the fourteenth book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. What's happened to the ocean & water as of late? Well-written thriller with captivating & well-developed main characters. Reminds me of Dan Brown’s writing. These books have been a rollicking adventure & I’ll be reading more by this author as I already own more books in the series! Narrator David Gilmore’s narration added to the book’s enjoyment. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

OK. Just barely.

The plot has a few interesting ideas, but the Audible production is inferior. Sad. The novel itself reads like it was written for fifth graders. The dialogue is amateurish. The reader reads in too perky a manner, too many voice ups & downs, too dramatic. He settles down about half way through and this improves the Audible version. For the first half, the work is annoying to listen to, not at all like Scott Brick, one of my favorites.

Less about Phoenix than the title insinuates

•audiobook•
2.25

I don’t think the book description truly captured this book’s mystery and enigma.

The masks were important, but equally intriguing was weaving Goodall and disappearing planes and passengers. (No, we aren’t in the Bermuda Triangle.)

I like the stories, but I find climax and clues lacking. The characters are condescending when they explain their field expertise to others; and this is a recurring personality throughout the series.

I like the imagination and creativity but really wish the author would spend more time to develop the story delivery and characters.

I didn’t like how the Phoenix was brought up again in this book, yet immediately squashed.
