The Pirate Takes a Bride

Another great swashbuckling pirate romance! Shana Galen writes another wonderful love story amid the chaos and turmoil of the regency period. I'm not as familiar with Heather Wilds as I am others, but she did a nice job narrating this audiobook. If you love sexy pirates and sassy women, you should love this creative pirate adventure.!

Good job

I love Shana Galen. She's awesome. Cute story and just the right amount of sexual tension. Her sex is very romantic and not smutty. Give this one a try. It's worth the credit

Loved It!!!

I totally enjoyed this book! The relationship between the leads was so electric & fun to follow. The adventures were perfect & I loved the message it gives that we can be loved just as much with imperfections, and that we only put limitations on ourselves. Also that love sometimes requires sacrifice. The narrator was a little “sing-song” and didn’t emphasize correctly on the words in sentences. A little distracting for me. But otherwise great book!!

Eh

Some parts of the voyage were good but once again, I just can't seem to like the MCs. It always feels like a huge hit or a disappointing miss with this author. This book was a miss. Half the time I was confused about what was happening and the other half I was put off by the characters. At the end of a story if I feel great about the HEA then Ill usualky rate the book a 4 star. But in this case I felt nothing but relieved the story was over. The FMC just a wtch without rhyme or reason. The MMC is a victim of trauma but is so incredibly shallow. I really don't see a person being so effected by his mother's death using and purposefully injuring women that way. It's all just a big mish-mash of events that do not coincide with Regency England's Ton standards. What a mess.

annoying narrator

this narrator needs training. her voices are not too bad but her narration is awful, suggesting a kiddies' bleat round every corner. her voice rising at the end of a sentence is inappropriate, and high pitched stressing of odd words mid sentence jars.

Feels incomplete without the rest of the series

While I liked this book and see the potential in the story, it felt like I was missing some critical information that was covered in previous books in the series. As the other books in this series are not on Audible, I most likely will not read them.

I would love to hear more Shana Galen books on Audible with good narration, like the Covent Garden Cubs series narrated by Beverly A. Crick! Lucy Rivers butchers the Sapphire series, proving that a narrator can make or break a book. Heather Wilds is okay, but her voice, strange cadence and (mis)pronunciations are taxing after several hours of listening.

Overall, an okay but incomplete story - more well-narrated Shana Galen audiobooks please!
