Great story
Overall a great story with a good performance and very relatable characters. While written for children I never felt the story was too young. Definitely worth a listen.

Hidden gem
I loved this story, and I honestly feel that the audiobook is the best way to consume it. The author did a fantastic job narrating, conveying all the right nuances and feelings. I finished the whole book in just a few days because I couldn't stop listening! I played it every chance I got until I reached the end. The voices the author used for each character really enhanced my enjoyment. I love stories such as Chronicle of Narnia & Harry Potter, and this story was definitely in that vein, with some shades of Pilgrim's Progress mixed in. The original tales & poems interspersed throughout the book were delightful and often convicting. I enjoyed this audiobook as an adult, but I believe children from mid to late elementary school and up would very much enjoy it, as well.

A Refreshing New Look At Magic And Mystery
"The Sanctus Chronicles quickly draws you in to nonstop reading, it seems as if it is a short bedtime story... In fact, it is, but those many stories are put together in a fashion to hide a much bigger tale. A tale that all blends together in the end. While reading you get a sense of Narnia meets Hogwarts yet truly a new twist on the mystical and magical fiction style. I would recommend to anyone looking for a refreshing new look at this genre." Does not disappoint…
This book quickly drew me into the world of the Sanctus children. Orphaned, in boarding school and studying magic that they were not allowed to use was an intriguing premise so I pressed on and I was not disappointed. Little short stories woven into the bigger story kept it interesting. This book is a good mix of Harry Potter meets The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe. It’s a book I would listen to again and again. While the author is not a professional narrator, he does a good job of changing his voice for different characters and keeps the story moving. I would recommend this book for 3rd to 7th graders.

An author that can narrate!
I listened to this on a road trip with my kids, and we were all hooked.
It was so much fun to talk to them about - they caught some of the allegory, and with a little prompting unlocked much more!
The author did a great job with the character voices - distinct without being distracting.
There were some parts that were a bit intense/scary for my youngest (and very sensitive) kiddo, but did okay after talking it through.
Cannot recommend highly enough!

C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien would be proud
An amazing work for young readers teaching honor, diligence, bravery, and compassion despite circumstances in a dark and inhospitable world.
With 50¢ words that many children will not know, and some short stories within the book that can become rather scary, this is a book to enjoy as a family and grow together as a family. The lessons of doing what's right despite being punished for it, working hard without reward, and the folly's found in many adults, this first book will leave you a better person than when you began, and anticipating the next.
