Story
It is not native intelligence or natural talent that makes people excel, say Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval - it's old-fashioned sweat equity and hard work. And that claim is backed up by new research from MacArthur Fellowship Award winner and University of Pennsylvania psychologist Angela Duckworth, among others. Not everyone is blessed with exceptional intelligence, or wins the gene lottery. But the good news is that you can excel beyond your wildest dreams in your career and your personal life - success is within your grasp - through the right attitude and determination.

Only 10 days before Abraham Lincoln took the oath of office in 1861, the Confederate States of America seceded from the Union, taking all Federal agencies, forts, and arenas within their territory. To make matters worse, Lincoln, who was elected by a minority of the popular vote, was thought of by his own advisors as nothing more than a gawky second-rate country lawyer with no leadership experience. What Lincoln did to become our most honored and revered president is history; now his wisdom and leadership philosophy can help you run your business.

To lead is to live dangerously. It's romantic and exciting to think of leadership as all inspiration, decisive action, and rich rewards, but leading requires taking risks that can jeopardize your career and your personal life. It requires putting yourself on the line, disrupting the status quo, and surfacing hidden conflict. And when people resist and push back, there's a strong temptation to play it safe. Those who choose to lead plunge in, take the risks, and sometimes get burned.

Lacking Research and Needs To Highlight Target Customer
This is a great “feel good” book, but lacks solid research to make a lasting impact. Also, it is written by female entrepreneurs for female entrepreneurs. I am completely cool with that, but having something on the cover or description page would be nice.

Excellent!
I almost didn't buy this based on the user review that the book slams Republicans and Creationists. After thinking twice, I ended up buying the book and listening twice. This is not a book about politics, but about ways to be nice and the ideas are good. I found it interesting, helpful, and engaging as I start a business. If you'll have a problem with a couple small, minor comments about Republicans, I suggest you don't get the book. Just know that you'll miss out on the many good ideas in this book. Be nice!

Mother, you were right....
I heard about this book from a talk given by Cynthia Marshall chief executive officer of the Dallas Mavericks. I was so intrigued by a story she told about the power of being nice and then she recommended this book. I'm so glad I read this book. Do get the audible version! Being nice is a currency that grows with interest in favor of those who least expected it. This book unveils the power of being nice in the business world where often its use is frowned upon. I'm so incredibly grateful that this book was given to the world. We possess the power to be nice and if you don't think so, read this book. Thank you!

Heard it before, still good.
Many of the same examples given where also in the Power of Small, I still enjoyed the book.

Nice
