About this listen

Dive into this fun, sexy fake fiancé romance performed by Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin!

I don't mean to just blurt it out. "Why, yes, I'm engaged!"

But once I say it to a potential client, there's only one logical thing to do - cast the role of my fake fiancé.

Easy enough. As a casting director, my job is to find the most talented players for every part, so I choose dreamy, edgy, sexy, sarcastic Reeve.

And I sign him up for one week in the role of mine.

It's not as if I'll fall for him in five nights even if we get a little cozy one night at theater. It's not as if I'll want more even after a scorching afternoon in the stacks of the New York Public Library.

I can't let myself because on Friday at midnight the curtain falls on our fake romance...

Author's note : The Pretending Plot is a reimagining of my 2013 book Pretending He's Mine, which is no longer available for sale. The Pretending Plot is a fresh new take on that fake fiancé romance, now rewritten in first person, expanded from a novella to novel length and with expanded characterizations. This new version with brand-new narration is more than 60 percent new material.

Make Believe or Real Life

I loved this full length remake. I read Caught Up In Love, what feels like years ago, so I don’t remember all the exact details but I do remember parts and I loved it. This new extended version gives you more to love.

Fab faux-mance and STELLAR narration!

Lauren Blakely knows how to do fun and flirty and she always does it so well. The Pretending Plot is a reimagined and expanded version of Pretending He’s Mine and I can definitely say that I love the 2.0 version much better.

The Pretending Plot is based on the fake-fiancé trope that I love and can’t get enough of. There’s plenty of sexy, steamy moments mixed in with cute falling in love moments that come with these types of stories, but with the added goodness of Lauren Blakely’s fab writing. I really enjoyed Sutton and Reev’s faux-mance turned romance.

Narration by Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin was STELLAR! You can’t go wrong with Joe Arden, like, ever, but Vanessa Edwin just shinned as Sutton. This isn’t my first audio from her, but it had been a while and now I’m kicking myself wondering why?! Her British accent was perfection and she and Joe Arden has perfect narrating chemistry. 4 stars.

I Loved This Storyline 🔥🔥❤️❤️

This is a sexy and fast paced storyline. Sutton is a beautiful British casting director. Gorgeous Reeve is an actor in need of work. When they first meet they are attracted to each other. But Sutton takes her job too seriously. I like fake engagement tropes. The love scenes where a level 4 🔥🔥🔥🔥out of 5. The narrators where of course excellent! Joe Arden is amazing and I loved Vanessa Edwin!

cute

predictable but very cute. I enjoyed the chemistry, but the cliche miscommunication was a bit much in my opinion. the story was original to begin but then turned pretty predictable. again the chemistry was pretty hot. overall a great listen with the performers and story.

Fun and Flirty!

The Pretending Plot (previously published as Pretending He's Mine) is the first book in the Caught Up in Love. Sutton and Reeve's story is a fun and flirty fake relationship/older woman and younger man romance/and slow burn romance. I loved their story. Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin are the perfect narrators as Sutton and Reeve. I enjoyed it.

Slow Burn 🔥

This was a sweet sexy slow burn romance. The couple had immediate chemistry and they were hot together. The narrators were on point with their delivery.

A fun pretend to love story

It was so fun to see a female boss who got her HEA from an almost employee, the dynamic was still implied and if I understood she was a handful of years older.

the performance was also great as they made feel their angst thru the narration.

A fun, quick listen

A cute, quick, fun story. Some unpredictable elements in there, too! But loved these characters together. Great chemistry and definitely a well-developed story for such a short one!
