About this listen

The greatest threat humanity has ever faced lies beyond the frontier of its galactic civilization, but dangers closer to home have been overlooked and allowed to grow.

As greed and personal ambition in the Terran Union push the common good aside, the Navy is forced to turn to unconventional means. Jack Samson is ordered to team up with former allies to uncover and destroy the rot eating the Union from the inside.

Chasing down a trail of smuggled alien technology through the Union's underworld, they soon discover the web of treachery reaches farther than anyone could have expected…

This is a truly epic tale with twists and turns, interesting and diverse characters, and a fascinating universe. Can’t wait for the next one.

Brilliant

Love this series. Love that the author does not dive right in to the aliens but keeps the listener in suspense.

incredible story

This book was more of a background of the politics relating to the aliens and the artifacts. Not much action as the first two. I think I zoned out a few times. I could see how the story line was going to be important to the future books so I stuck with it. But it was tough going a few times. Whew! The saving grace was Scott Aeillo’s narration. He definitely is one of the best. Looking forward to the next book, though. Based on the ending of this one, it promises to be as awesome as the first two books.

Slower than the first two

Not a ton of engagable action, but much more mature character and plot development than he has achieved in previous books (Sci-fi or fantasy).

Enjoyable and engaging. The fundamental plot is getting more and more compelling. Looking forward to the next one.

The best of the three so far

I’ve enjoyed many of this author’s books but here I am having finished the third in this series and I don’t know why I’ve come this far. There’s something completely different in the writing style in this series and I haven’t really enjoyed any of it. I’m glad I got this one on sale at least. It will be my last in this series.

Not great

I really enjoyed the militaristic naval aspects of books 1 and 2.

Book 3 turned to espionage and spy stuff. Not really my cup of tea.

And I have had about enough girl bosses girl bossing.

Down Hill from Books 1 and 2
