About this listen
What's the worst that can happen when a Regency lady commits a Propriety Violation? Might she suffer acute embarrassment, a tarnished reputation, a forced marriage, shunning of her family, or something even more dire? These consequences might be devastating, but could we countenance a more nefarious possibility?
Elizabeth Bennet is enjoying a peaceful morning stroll in Ramsgate when the pleasant sound of the waves is interrupted by a scream. She impulsively reacts and finds her life altered forever.Caution: This story contains brief, non-graphic descriptions of violence, death, and war.

Pride & Prejudice meets Groundhog Day This low angst story is about the repeated efforts that Mr. Darcy goes through to marry Elizabeth Bennet. Darcy has to deal with all the extraneous distractions, mainly people, that get in the way of courting Elizabeth. Many tropes are indulged, many arts and allurements are employed, and annoying relatives are given short shrift. Unabashedly Happy Ever After.

Story
This is the 2nd edition of this book, updated for minor typos and formatting. It is the same book as published in 2023, it is not a new book. At the age of 13 Elizabeth Bennet met her reclusive neighbours and from that moment her life was changed forever. She learned the realities of life in Regency England for a young woman. What she learned disappointed and annoyed her, resulting in a young woman who held herself, and those around her, to a high standard. Rather than keep her constrained like so many young women, her neighbours encouraged her to be whatever she wanted. And if she wanted ...

Story
Author’s Note: ‘Flames and Passion at Netherfield’ is the second edition of a book originally released three years ago but removed shortly after. Its original title was ‘FROM PEMBERLEY TO PARADISE’. The story has now been re-published with a different title—one that better suits the narrative. Extensive editing has taken place (special thanks to Tish Holmes for her invaluable assistance), and certain changes have been made. However, the overall structure and main ideas remain consistent with the original version. The tale begins with a dramatic fire at Netherfield, just days ...

Story
Tragedy strikes the Gardiner family and Elizabeth sacrifices her own prospects to help the family heal. She performs a heroic act while in London and then has to deal with the consequences for her and her family. Upon her return to Longhorn she attends the Assembly where Mr. Darcy very much does not act the gentleman. This is the story of a young woman overcoming all that is thrown at her, metaphorically. Caroline Bingley did not literally throw something at Elizabeth, however much she was tempted. This is variation on the classic story, with accurate historical details.

Story
So much in life depends on chance and sheer luck. How much do we often owe to being in the right place at the right time? In Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet plans to visit the Lake District with her uncle and aunt, yet ends up at Pemberley instead, just as, by coincidence, Mr Darcy also arrives home. They meet, understand one another better and all eventually ends well. But what if they did not have such luck? What if Elizabeth actually went to the Lake District and was nowhere near Pemberley, and she and Mr Darcy never met again until another four years had gone by? Now...

Story
Darcy proposes to Elizabeth during her stay at Netherfield, while Jane is recovering—well before the disastrous proposal at Hunsford, and before Elizabeth has heard Wickham’s full story or visited Rosings. Because his attraction is stronger, or his pride momentarily loses control, he confesses his feelings too soon. Elizabeth, unarmed with Wickham’s lies and still unsure of her own opinions, hesitates. The social tension between their families and class remains, but the timeline shifts everything.

Fitzwilliam Darcy meets Elizabeth Bennet after Georgiana's heartbreak and hires her as his sister's companion but finds the lady fascinating. Because of his family's expectations and the inferiority of her birth, he tells himself that he cannot make an offer for her due to the difference in their rank and circumstance. How will he find humility to pursue the woman he loves? Rated T for innuendo and suggestive sexual language; non-canon

Anne de Bourgh is dead, and Lady Catherine devises her most audacious scheme yet. Welcome to the Summer Selection—a glittering, ruthless competition where eight eligible women battle for the ultimate prize: Fitzwilliam Darcy and his magnificent estate. Through sunlit archery tournaments, heart-stopping carriage races, and champagne-soaked garden parties, only one woman will emerge victorious. Elizabeth Bennet wants absolutely nothing to do with it. Story
WHEN MR. FITZWILLIAM DARCY RETURNS to Hertfordshire a year after last seeing Elizabeth Bennet, he is surprised to find that she has taken up careering around the countryside in a brand new curricle. Even more surprising is the manner in which their verbal sparring turns to good humor, banter, and flirtation. So much so that her neighbors begin to wonder if their attachment is more than just friendly.

Excellence in Writing

I've never read a better one.
The writing is excellent. it may be without any literary anachronisms.
I dearly wish that audible would get his many other titles before I break my addiction.
Additionally, the virtual voice narration is better than many of the human narrators.
I so appreciate that it's clean. ingenious plot.
And thank you what you've done in your professional life to make the world a better place

Now. A trigger warning for SA:
This will not be a spoiler, and I think it’s important to mention: The SA act doesn’t finish, is not so graphic, but the intent was there on the part of the villain. And for survivors or family of SA, this book may not be for you.
Our heroine, Elizabeth, comes to the girl’s rescue, and while saving her, Elizabeth accidentally kills the villain. However, during this time in history, it’s not okay to kill someone (if you’re a woman it seems) even in defense of someone else. Both women must deal with hiding this secret of the attempted SA (for fear of a ruined reputation) and the manslaughter, with Elizabeth at risk of hanging and ruining her family’s reputation and any future for her sisters.
Can you imagine?! Think about that premise for a moment. And how relevant it is even today. I could go off on a tangent. This story was so compelling. So thought provoking. I imagine I will be thinking of this storyline for a very long time.
Now for the review. I’ve been an Audible member forever it seems. I’ve got more than 600 titles in my library and likely 100 are P&P variations. Yes, I have a lot of windshield time driving. And I binge listen sometimes. This was one of those times. And I will re-read this as a favorite.
The raw emotion of the characters is unparalleled. Sometimes I laughed. Sometimes I cried. Tears streaming down my face. I felt as though I was there with the characters. Back in time.
You will love how Elizabeth is written: Courageous. Selfless. Brave. And what she did for the love.of her family and for the love of a family she couldn’t have. And what she did for self preservation. Oh my goodness!
You’ll love Darcy. His strength of character. How he never gave up.
I could go on with how well so many of the characters are developed and lend to this story. So well done.
I never wanted it to end. Just a masterpiece.
Narration: I realize it’s VV. Put your speed on 1.2 and forget about it. The story is worth the VV. I promise. I hated taking away any stars at all, this story is that amazing. But, out of respect to the “real” narrators, i couldn’t give the narration 4 stars, because it’s AI.
I don’t know if the author can re release with a human author like Frost or Zimmerman or another awesome narrator. I would BUY this book and listen for the 5th time. I will listen again and again even with the VV. Yes. It’s that good.
Actually , I’m grateful the author released this book with VV, because otherwise I might not have found the title only in print. And it’s one of my favorite books I’ve ever read or listened to. I highly recommend. Thank you to the author for sharing your story.
This one is a MUST!
