The most eye-opening part of this audiobook was when the author spoke of the Limbic System. That’s the part of the brain responsible for regulating emotions, stress and bonding. Negative childhood experiences can impact your thinking and reactions, causing problems the rest of your life. This audiobook allows you to reshape these “emotional pathways” so you can have healthier relationships with yourself and others going forward. I recommend the audiobook highly.

This audiobook offers a powerful, compassionate look at how early attachment wounds shape our adult relationships—and more importantly, how to heal them. Dr. Cibelli breaks down complex emotional patterns in a way that feels both relatable and empowering.

Lorraine Crowston’s narration was calm and steady, helping the material land in a very personal way. I especially appreciated the focus on self-compassion and practical strategies for building healthier emotional connections.

Not just another self-help book full of fluff. This one offers real structure something that’s been missing from a lot of other resources. The workbook format makes it personal, and the exercises are doable, not overwhelming. Turns out, healing old wounds doesn’t have to feel like drowning. The way it explains attachment styles actually makes them feel manageable. For anyone stuck in the same emotional patterns or afraid of connection, this helps break things down in a way that feels safe and empowering. It doesn’t push perfection just real progress.

This book hit me hard—in the best way. I’ve ruined a lot of relationships because of my avoidant attachment style and because I’ve ignored my inner child wounds for most of my life. I didn’t even fully understand how much they were affecting me until I started working through the exercises in this book.

It helped me connect the dots between my fears, my need for distance, and the pain I never dealt with growing up. The way it breaks everything down made it feel less overwhelming. I didn’t feel judged—I felt seen.

I’ve still got a long way to go, but for the first time, I feel like healing is actually possible. If you’ve pushed people away and are finally ready to face the real reasons why, this book is a powerful place to start.

I solely recommend this book to anyone who struggles with relationships as in family, friends or love. Attachment issues can originate from different traumas, therefore we have different styles of it. The author here will explain the different types we have and how to handle each, by giving us techniques and also sharing with us examples (real life) as a previous experience they might have had. After reading this or listening you'll want to take action by wanting to work on yourself by creating meaningful and long-lasting connections.
