About this listen

Renegade dragon hunter Dorn hates dragons with a passion few can believe, let alone match. He has devoted his entire life - a life spent in the twisted body of a half-golem - to killing every dragon he can find.

You might feel the same way if one of them had killed your entire family in front of your eyes, bitten you in half, and left you for dead.

Killing one dragon at a time is hard enough, but when the irresistible impluse to slip into feral madness begins to overcome not one but every dragon all across Faern, civilization's only hope may lie in the last alliance Dorn and his fellow dragon hunters would ever accept.

No matter what happens, the next year is going to be a difficult one for Dorn, and for Faern itself. The Year of Rogue Dragons has come....

Great story, well worth the read

Fantastic story, characters, and narration. Sometimes a bit slow, but it makes up for it very quickly.

Captivating aside from some pronunciation

Story and performance were great! I could not give performance a 5 star because some pronunciation of places and gods irked me. Aside from that, it’s wonderful.

Just OK

The narration isn't the best. The story is just OK. I'm not connecting to any of the characters in the story so far, but I will finish the trilogy.

mispronounced words, the 10 year old voicing dorn just killing any sort of immersion every time he speaks

good other than the voice stuff and mispronounced words that throw it off every time he speaks

Great Author/Writing --- Poor Narration

Would you try another book from Richard Lee Byers and/or Melissa Reizian Frank?

I have tried other Richard Lee Byers books. Fascinating stories of Thay and Dragonborn. Although the story is a great read, the narration is awful. I had to force my listening through this.... Played video games or did work or whatever else I could do. BEATING!!! Richard Lee Byers made some less than popular areas of Forgotten Realms come to life. If Forgotten Realms narration wasn't dying off, I'd say this needs to be narrated by a much better narrator.

Would you recommend The Rage to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend they read this and not listen to it in this state.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Melissa Reizian Frank?

Not if I can help it. I have other books by Melissa in the library and am committed so will be listening begrudgingly.

Did The Rage inspire you to do anything?

Inspires me to look at the narrator before buying.

Disappointing

I love this book and how gritty it can be at times. But the narrations completely stop me from enjoying this epic story. I’ve wasted a credit and that will always hurt.

Fun entry into Forgotten Realms lore

Great mix of diverse characters. Action and adventure throughout. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Pronunciation

The pronunciation of certain names is like nails on a chalk board. Lathander is pronounced lah-than-der not leh-than-der. Mystra is mist-trah not mee-stra.
