Story
It was the eve of the Time of Troubles. The chaos of spilled blood, lawless strife, monsters unleashed, and avatars roaming Faern was still to come. Unbeknownst to mortals, the gods had been summoned together, and among them was Mystra, grown proud and willful in the passing eons. With the others, she was about to be stripped of her godhood. The secret of her power gave her an idea. She made certain preparations, looking always for one who would be her successor.... But until that person's ascension, her power must be preserved.

The One True Spell was a woman, and her name was Mystra - and her kisses were wonderful. It is the time before Myth Drannor, when the Heartlands are home to barbarians, and wicked dragons rule the skies. In these ancient days, Elminster is but a shepherd boy, dreaming of adventure and heroics. Story
Renegade dragon hunter Dorn hates dragons with a passion few can believe, let alone match. He has devoted his entire life - a life spent in the twisted body of a half-golem - to killing every dragon he can find. You might feel the same way if one of them had killed your entire family in front of your eyes, bitten you in half, and left you for dead. Killing one dragon at a time is hard enough, but when the irresistible impluse to slip into feral madness begins to overcome not one but every dragon all across Faern, civilization's only hope may lie in the last alliance Dorn and his fellow dragon hunters would ever accept.

Story
Thousands of years before the Age of Elminster, dragons rule the skies of Faern, and elves dominate the huge forests that cover the land. Only in the mighty, magical empire of Netheril are men a force to be reckoned with. Bored and haughty in his midair castle, the Netherese mage Candlemas bets fellow wizard Sysquemalyn that a certain barbarian who has caught his eye can survive the most savage tests his friend - and deadly rival - can devise. The only rule: The tests must offer the subject some slight chance to survive.

The humans have no magic and are hunted for sport, but that is about to change. War is coming.... The Sun Dragon spawned nine lesser dragons which devoured their parent for the power the elder possessed. These young dragons fought for choice bits of the Sun Dragon, but each only managed to eat a portion, thus giving them specific powers. Over time, these foul dragons were hunted down and slain by heroes of old.

Worst Narrator I've encountered.
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I can't get through this book. The reader reads it as if it's poetry... not a story... it's mind numbing...
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Different reader.
Would you be willing to try another one of James Patrick Cronin’s performances?
Hell no.
Any additional comments?

I enjoy listening
The narrator needs work on the female characters, which honestly has to be a challenge for anyone. The story jumped around a lot more so and has a lot of moving parts. Most get cleaned up by the end.

What disappointed you about Swords of Eveningstar?
EVERYTHING.BADLY WRITTEN, NOT ED'S LEVEL FOR FANTASY. THE WORST IS THE NARRATOR OF THE STORY, WHAT A GIRLY VOICE FOR HEROS.
Would you ever listen to anything by Ed Greenwood again?
YES I'VE READ OTHER BOOKS BY ED AND HE IS USUALLY A TOP FANTASY WRITER.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of James Patrick Cronin?
ANYONE WITH A MANS VOICE.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
NO.
