Publisher's summary

Nobody expected Dru Anderson to survive this long. Not Graves. Not Christophe. Not even Dru. She's battled killer zombies, jealous djamphirs, and bloodthirsty suckers straight out of her worst nightmares. But now that Dru has bloomed into a full-fledged svetocha — rare, beautiful, and toxic to all vampires — the worst is yet to come. Because getting out alive is going to cost more than she's ever imagined. And in the end, is survival really worth the sacrifice?

Myself, warning me that everyone claimed it had a terribly disappointing ending. Then, it ended fine.

The book kept my attention. That was good. It had a little less cursing than the previous ones.

Unsatisfying Ending.

Very disappointing. I wish that it ended more decisively and not how it did end.

kind of disappointed

Would you try another book from Lili St. Crow and/or Alyssa Bresnahan?

Yes i would

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Was not happy at all with it

Did Alyssa Bresnahan do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

yes she did she has a good voice for it.

Do you think The Reckoning needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes because it didn't end with answers. it was like she left it open for a spin off series.

Any additional comments?

I was so looking forward to the end of this serious, and I was very disappointed on the ending. I hope she does a spin off of it so we can get more answers.

Love it but...

I love this series but really wish there was another book. It doesn't feel complete.

SPOILER bad ending

well. that shit was depressing. it's like, ok.. we're going to put all this emotional weight on you and not give a satisfying ending. sure, we killed the bag guy but let me just remind you someone will replace him and they'll be back. also let's not have any emotional relief and make your best friend and someone you love leave you before you wake up and almost not get a goodbye. sure, you want your main character to be a tough chick and don't need a man to be happy. ok then just have the character say she doesn't need to be with someone right now. it's not a good time and have him still stay around and supply the reader with some sort of happy ending, some sort of emotional relief from the chaos the character was experiencing.

What?!?

This was such a disappointing ending. It was a long series, to a simple/quick climax with the villain, then a confusing and ambiguous ending. The series started out excellent. I loved all the other books and waited anxiously for this one. After listening, I was angry at wasting the credit on this book. At first I thought there must be another book coming, then discovered that this was the finale. What happened?! It felt like the author lost interest in the story and, instead of making any strong conclusions, just kind of stopped writing. Very unsatisfying.

Disappointed with the “ending”

When I first read the series (over 10 years ago) I kept hoping there would be more coming. It has such potential (minus the not so subtle racism), but the ending left too many unanswered questions. It would be great to learn what the heck happened - with the author and the characters.
