Publisher's summary

From the international best-selling author of the hot, new thriller Dark Visions....

Haunted by his past

In a world ruled by the purest survivors, the fiercest warriors, Gage was the strongest - an American executing his country’s darkest missions with legendary cunning and skill. Until, wounded and dying in a scorched wasteland, he found mercy at the hands of an aging priest.

Separated from the secret world he once dominated, he chose a life of exile, pursuing a lonely peace, a solitary faith. Only the murder of his mentor and the mysterious theft of an ancient manuscript can compel him to emerge from solitude.

Hunted by a deadly force

Now his greatest battle begins. From the shadowed streets of New York to the inner recesses of the Vatican and beyond, he challenges the awesome might of an ageless evil. Bound by a promise to a dying friend, he wages war once more in the dark world he left behind.

The Reckoning

I thought I'd like this book.I didn't.I lost the plot early on and never really found it again.Narration was good most of the time. The sound was actually garbled for 2-3 minutes in one pat of my listening early on.I don't think it was meant to be that way. I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Intense

Alot of great action and intrigue.
Gage as the MC is someone you really, really want on your side.
Mr Lennon as always is great as the narrator.
I will say that I enjoyed Mr Huggins "Dark Visions" better. That has more to do with my taste in a story line.
This is definitely worth your time if you like the covert government type story.

A big 5* story

The Reckoning.. It is a big book 19 hours, But you just get immersed in the story line and before you know it -it's finished.
It is tense and gripping with powerful characters.
The author crafts a beautiful tale and coupled with very descriptive writing, paints a tale of intrigue and suspense.
Tom Lennon the narrator has a distinctive style well suited to this style of book, he kept my interest to the end, and his style certainly adds to the experience.
This is a book I can whole heartedly recommend to any one who enjoys a top quality thriller.

A good versus evil battle

A commander of an elite force "Backlight", questioned his objectives, and had his team wiped out. He only survived due his grim determination and the help of some Christian souls.
Now, these same good people needed his help, to stop an evil, that believed in superior beings, that had a devine right to rule.
Off course they are after an ancient manuscript, and they are willing to kill to get it.

A fun listen - engaging, story well told

I enjoyed this listen. A great job by author and narrator.

This reminded me of a detective story by Dan Brown. Both the good guys and the bad guys are clever and determined and this keeps you guessing. A suspicious attitude towards villains with religious authority carries the story along.

The author knows how to let the story unfold without giving too much away, too quickly. The narrator does a great job of keeping you engaged in the story and helping the pace and story line move along enjoyably.

A terrific listen!
