About this listen
Librarian Janet Johnson is puzzled when she is invited - and practically dragged - to her first meeting of the Rejected Writers' Book Club. This quirky group of women would much rather celebrate one another's rejected manuscripts over cups of tea and slices of lemon cake than actually publish a book. But good friends are exactly what Janet needs after moving to the small town of Southlea Bay, Washington. Just as the ladies are about to raise a teacup to their five hundredth rejection letter, they receive bad news that could destroy one member's reputation - and disband the group forever. To save the club, Janet joins her fellow writers on a wild road trip to San Francisco in search of the local publisher who holds the key to a long-buried secret. As they race to the finish line, they'll face their fears - landslides, haunted houses, handsome strangers, ungrateful children - and have the time of their lives.

Jen Dixon is not your typical Kansas City kindergarten class mom - or mom in general. Jen already has two college-age daughters by two different (probably) musicians, and it's her second time around the class mom block with five-year-old Max - this time with a husband and father by her side. Though her best friend and PTA president sees her as the "wisest" candidate for the job (or oldest), not all of the other parents agree.

1941. Audrey Coltrane has always wanted to fly. It's why she implored her father to teach her at the little airfield back home in Texas. It’s why she signed up to train military pilots in Hawaii when the war in Europe began. And it’s why she insists she is not interested in any dream-derailing romantic involvements, even with the disarming Lieutenant James Hart, who fast becomes a friend as treasured as the women with whom she flies. Then one fateful day, she gets caught in the air over Pearl Harbor just as the bombs begin to fall, and suddenly, nowhere feels safe.

The biggest thing to happen to Skary, Indiana, is renowned horror novelist Wolfe Boone, or "Boo" as the locals fondly call him. For the past 16 years, the reclusive writer has been the town's greatest attraction, having unintentionally turned the once struggling Skary into a thriving tourist trap for the dark side.
But when a newly reformed Wolfe suddenly quits the genre and subsequently starts to pursue Skary's favorite girl-next-door, Ainsley Parker, the little town becomes truly horrified.

Only God knew why Jillian Slater agreed to return to New Orleans on the news that her father had finally drunk himself to death. It's not like they were close. She hadn't seen him - or her grandmother, the ice queen - in almost 20 years. But when Adella Atwater, the manager of her grandmother's apartment house, called and said her expenses would be paid if she'd fly in for the burial, a free trip to New Orleans was too intriguing to resist.

Entertaining Story About Writers
A small town librarian, Janet Johnson is persuaded to attend a gathering of local eccentric lady writers known as “The Rejected Writers Bookclub,” she gets pulled into crazy adventures she never thought she would be involved in. The club collects publisher's rejection letters like trophies, this quirky society cares nothing for being in print and instead meets to celebrate in style its members' mutually spurned manuscripts. They are just shy of their 500th letter and a huge club celebration so the women in the club go on a trip to get the rejection letters they need and leave on a crazy cross-country trip.
If I started a club like this it might be called "The Procrastinator's Not Finishing Story Club". I'm stopping after each chapter I write to read or listen to another book.

Funny
When i first go this book i thought it was like a cozy mystery. However, it is more like a silly comedy. I loved it. It has a slow start but once it got to rolling it was a hoot. It was silly, fun entertainment. I could do more in this series. The narrator did a great job with the characters.

Rejected writers please reunite
loved it! It started out slow. Had I been reading the book I may have put it down. I was listening while I was sewing so I am more tolerant. I laughed so hard at times tears ran down my face. I love these women and wanted more when I finished the book

Charming idea
I loved the idea here, but some of the characters bordered on ridiculous (in a good quirky way). I might read the other books in the series.

Fun! Quick
It was over before I knew it. It was quick but so was the pace and the wit.
Good book to listen to while cleaning house or working in the yard. It’s light but holds you. You can escape into it a spell.
