About this listen

George had always felt like an outsider. Even his birth name made him stand out from others in the Amish community. His parents gave him a British name rather than an Amish traditional name, as they were happy to be seen as different within the community. He was your typical aloof and loner 19-year-old.

Sarah was a young woman of 20 years of age, and she was curious, sweet, and innocent. Devout to her faith and of a caring heart, she often saw George struggling socially both in the village and in the local Town. He would be known for reacting when the outsiders teased him and the village elders frowned on his seeming aggressive tendencies.

At a community gathering, Sarah decides that she will help this young man to be happier and to deal with his frustrations and seeming unhappiness. She tried to reach out to him several times that day, but he dismissed her and seemed oblivious to her efforts. Secretly, he loved the attention and that someone actually seemed to care.

These feelings were both exciting but also uncomfortable for them both, and they seek answers in prayer. Would love blossom, or would their timid nature mean that maybe their true love for each other would never be shared?

“Mr. and Mrs. Esh”. A woman sat at a desk across from a couple, off to the side sat a little boy, arms crossed over his chest with a bloody nose, “This is the third time this school year that your son has picked a fight with another student.” She removed her glasses looking at them sadly, “If he doesn’t start shaping up, we will need to take more restrictive actions as he is causing a disruption amongst the other students. And suspending him so often hinders his learning.” “He started it!” The little boy piped up angrily, “I was only defending myself. Why am I the only one to get punished!?” He will be dealt with George.
